Mad Vapes e-Liquid Review #8

This review is for Downtown Delight, by Disco Vaper, which is a 30/70 PG/VG blend, and sells for $9.99 in 15 ml bottles over at MadVapes, where it's described as gummy candy topped with fresh, wild blueberries.
I found this flavor quite pleasant. Nice throat hit, sweet and refreshing, with a nice tangy zing to it. Gummi candy and blueberries? Yes, sort of. I assume that when a juice is described as 'gummy candy', they're talking about Gummi Bears or the like and changing the spelling for reasons of copyright law. Which is strange to me because the word 'gummi' in German just means 'rubber', and that's where gummi style candy comes from, and why it was so named. So I don't see how 'rubber' can be a protected word unless you're putting out an actual candy made of rubbery glycerin in the shape of an animal or worm or whatever. Calling an e-juice gummi flavored could easily be defended as not infringing on anyone's intellectual property since no one owns a copyright on the German language. Though I'm not complaining; I get it, better safe than sorry, which in this case translates to 'better safe than having to spend a fortune getting lawyered up'. But, I digress. Back to the juice review.

When I'm vaping Downtown Delight, several things occur to me. Mainly, that living downtown has rarely (if ever) been a 'delight' in my experience. Also, the name has nothing about it that I would connect with gummi candy or fresh blueberries. But those things have nothing to do with the taste of this juice. Which, if I'm thinking about gummi bears and blueberries, does indeed taste like its description. But if I'm not thinking of those things, then the taste just reminds me of grape bubblegum. Not in a bad way, though I never would have chosen a grape bubblegum flavor to vape. I'm not sure why exactly, since I don't mind grape flavored things, I just don't seek them out. On reflection, I think it's because grape flavoring is a taste I can recall with startling accuracy. It's somehow lodged in my memory so thoroughly that I can taste it just by thinking about it. Like you wouldn't buy a recording of people singing 'Happy Birthday'. I don't dislike it, it's just so easy to remember that I don't ever feel the need to get it. Maybe that's due to the abundance of grape flavored cough medicine I had when I was a kid.

So, while this juice tastes really nice and has decent vapor production and throat hit with a yummy tangy exhale, it is a little disappointing to me. If you love grape flavored things or tangy vapes that are vaguely reminiscent of gummi candy and blueberries, or have pictures of gummi bears and blueberries placed around the area where you most frequently vape, then you'll probably love this stuff. Also, this juice seems very voltage-dependant. When I've got a fresh battery in my mech, it tastes pretty awesome. The tangy zing I mentioned is very pronounced and really enjoyable. But I keep finding myself checking the mech on my meter to see if it's time to change the battery, and it's not. I suspect that with a regulated mod or perhaps a lower resistance build than the 0.8 I'm currently vaping on, I might like this juice a whole lot more.
