02.13.2011. Sunday. Joye Ego-T, Eight Days, and Cold Weather.

Right. So, I have had my Joye Ego-T for eight days. It still works as well as the first day I've had it. No more playing with thin juices. It still works well with my super-thick VG. I have only had one big problem with performance, and that was at the hospital.

I went in for a checkup, and was told I was not allowed to use the ecig indoors. That is fine. It's a hospital, and people get uppity when they see vapour. Sure, they're stupid and uneducated, but I understand. This hospital is known for its .....iness. Anyway, I was forced to go outside and sit in a bench in the snow and wind. Having been a smoker for years, I've learned how to dress for the occasion, so I was not overly bothered by that. What WAS frustrating is that my VG juices thickened up in the cold, and would not wick, at all.

There was nothing I could do. I had to take two puffs, then go back inside and wait for the whole thing to warm up. Then I'd go back outside and repeat the whole process. I tried warming it up in my hands, but it wasn't enough. Speaking of not enough, this was entirely unsatisfying as far as my nicotine cravings go. I considered sneaking into the bathroom and vaping, but I wasn't keen on getting kicked out, especially since the nearest bus stop was over a mile away, and I'm still recuperating from my illness.

The battery continued to perform well, even in the cold. The fault lies purely in the behaviour of VG in cold temperatures. I wonder if an old-school cartomizer would work with an Ego battery. That might be a quick fix for this situation. Certainly I prefer the tanks. The cartomizer would just be used in those events where I'm stuck outside for extended periods of time. I suppose I have time to figure this out, considering that it's almost spring.
