So you noticed people argue about the Provari mod?

believe it or not your not noticing a sudden influx of provari fans. this forum has had the same "problem" since the provari came out. and the reason for this is that the provari is a good variable voltage device, and the 1st of its kind in many ways. when it first came out, we were stacking batteries to get to 6 volts in our mechanical mods, and regulated 5 volt mods were showing up. the provari went above + beyond.

If you flash forward to today, the new members of the forum, 1st of all they don't remember those days. 2nd of all they see all of the cheaper variable voltage devices out there and they don't know why the heck the provari is so damn popular. It shouldn't be. there are better devices. Right? That can be argued for. and it is argued over, every day, on ecf. This won't be the last. A thread was just closed yesterday, this thread will probably be closed soon as well. This conversation is getting old, but you'll get used to it.

OP- You don't need a Provari. And people will tell you that the Provari is the best VV PV. Others will tell you its over rated. And some will even admit that they dislike it all together and they believe there are better VV PVs on the market. Only you can do the research. You can either listen to everyone that stops by this thread to make an opinionated comment, or you can watch a video of a electrician scope the provari and compare it to other variable voltage mods and make your opinion based off of those cumulative reviews. Either way, it is my opinion that you should seek out and read + watch reviews from people with electricity knowledge backgrounds.

Do you need one? Absolutely not. The mods on the market today are all fantastic mods.
Are there positives to owning a provari that you might like over owning other mods? This is a possibility.
Are there positives to owning a Zmax or Evic or Smax or Vamo over owning a provari? This is a possibility.
Those are up to YOUR opinions after you've reviewed reviews.

And thats all there is to it.

If you are not into reviews and you'll take MY word on this matter: The provari scopes out differently from other mods. It has differences. Those differences make a lot of people that I look up to feel they support the provari over other mods. How big is the difference? Miniscule in my opinion. lol. Its a small difference. And I know for a fact that if you order a different vv mod, its going to satisfy you as far as vape quality. When it comes to build quality, that is something only YOU can make a decision or educated guess about. All of the mods on the market today are built to work and not break. lol. The provari matches the usual 1 year warranty that most mods have, but it also has a repair service after that initial year. For instance if you screen cracks it is 15 dollars plus shipping and handling to have you screen fixed after the 1st year. If you scratch or dent your battery tube, I believe it is 45 dollars + s&h. So that is one of the main reasons I purchased my provari. I can get it fixed in 6 years if something does break on it. The decision rests in your (hopefully educated by techy reviewers) hands.

Nice. :)
If only people would come here instead of starting another "Why all the Provari hate?" thread. I went from eGo to eGo Twist to Provari in a couple of months. I like it and I still use it. I use it more than my "nicer" mechanical mods as I continue to work out building my coils to ~1.2 - 1.5 ohms for my current vaping preference at 3.7 volts (and my ZAP is my current favorite RBA - with more contenders arriving this week). It's handy for setting up a new wick and coil and being able to step up the volts as I work out hotspots or shorts in a coil. Yes, any VV can do this - but it's more my reason for not getting rid of the Provari.

I have yet to reply to the various "Is it better? Is it the best? Why no VW? I'm new and I immediately want to get a Provari" threads. I read for entertainment only. I love to argue (and be right) too much to get involved.

thanks. if your interested, or if anyone else reading this would be, there is a thread up now called "Provari on an Oscilloscope VS Vamo" and that thread really tackles the technical differences of todays VW/VV mods when compared to the Provari. There is a small difference in their technologies & the way they work. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. Have a good one.

I posted the following in the same thread that Plumes.91 referenced above, in response to someone who made a comment about the menu and the single button of the ProVari. I hope you don't mind me posting it here as well.

"You know, when I first got my ProVari, I thought I wanted more buttons and a better screen and menu. After owning it for a while now, I understand why it's set up the way it is. The menu is the simplest, least complex one out there. Everything is set up in order of priority, with the most used features at the beginning of the menu. The screen, again, is the most durable, brightest lit screen they could find. It's not pretty, but it's exactly what is needed and wanted. The button, again, is built to last. There are no other buttons to accidently press and change settings.

A gun only has one trigger.

EDIT: People have a misconception about the ProVari. Some seem to think that it's the Ferrari of the vaping world. In reality, it's the opposite. It's the Hummer of the vaping world, and not the pretty dolled up ones the rich people drive...it's the military ones that our troops drive until they break, then fix them and drive some more. The ones with patched up bullet holes and blood on the tires."

I think some people get hung up on the technology, or the fact the Heidi Klum uses one, and loose sight of the real reason the ProVari remains popular when other devices offer far more features, and that is it's absolute reliability, time after time.

As far as the whole "Haters vs. Fanboys" question, I was asked 2 simple questions. "Do you believe that ProV worshippers or whatever you want to call them exist here on this forum? Second, do you think they are doing the forum and any new users any better than the haters who diss the ProV?"

This is my response to that particular question.

I believe that there are ProVari Cultists, Radicals, Worshippers, or whatever you want to call them. I don't think that there are as many of them as there once were, and I think that most of the serious ones spend most of their time in the newbie forums or "what mod should I buy threads." The other problem is brand new ProVari owners, who think that their shiny new ProVari endows them with mystical powers, and has given them a mandate to preach the ProVape Gospel.

As for the second part of your question, yes, yes I do think that they are doing this forum some good. You only have to read through the ProVari forum pages to find happy owner after happy owner with a few sprinkled in who are mad that someone didn't suggest a ProVari sooner (and the very rare person who has problems with their new ProVari).

On the flip side of that, I cannot condone someone or a group, collectively browbeating someone into thinking that a ProVari is the only worthwhile mod. Newbies and others should be made aware that ProVari's exist, certainly, but they should not be offered as the only "best" choice. I am as quick to recommend an eGo as I am a REO, or a Vamo, or a ProVari. It all depends on the situation, circumstances, experience and budget of the person asking, and I feel that 99% of ProVari owners share this philosophy. It's the very vocal 1% who think that everyone should own a ProVari who ruin it for the rest of us. Namely due to "Oh, you own a ProVari, you must be part of that cult of people who think that ProVari's are better than everything else."

Unfortunately, ProVari has created much of it's own mythos. It is incredibly rugged and durable, compared to most mods. Like most things, it doesn't appeal to everyone. It's the IPhone of the mod world. Exclusive, yet attainable. Not sure where I'm going with this, but the things that make the ProVari popular also make it unpopular. The IPhone user will say, "It's perfectly set up and easy to use," the Android user will say of the IPhone, "I want to set it up my way, to my preferences."

As ProVari owners, we don't want to be lumped in to the "Club" mentality. We joke about it, but in the end, all most of us just want to be is vapers. We don't have an agenda. I've become defensive, because of the repeated attacks on ProVari owners, not just myself. "You own a ProVari, you must be rich," "You own a ProVari, you must be compensating for something," You own a ProVari, you must think your better than us," and on it goes. Unfortunately, in the end, I can only speak for myself, and not all ProVari owners. If you read the normal ProVari threads, we're a pretty happy-go-lucky group, until someone starts poking the thread with a stick.

Whoops. forgot to address the haters. There's a very few who suffer from "mod envy," Who are unwilling or unable to buy a ProVari. There are a few who just don't like the way they look, are setup, or hate the lack of VW. There are a very few who had a bad experience with their ProVari, or with ProVape...and there's a few who hate the mod because of the owners. I imagine there's a few who own better, more expensive mods (mechanical or Hybrid) than the ProVari, who couldn't care less. I understand what they are going through, but I'm not them, so why should I care, you know? Most people don't hate ProVari's, and there are more people who want a ProVari than there are ProVari owners, based on what I've seen.

Sorry for the long winded response.

Plumes9.1;
tia- u know the ?! its been 7+mos since the PV blog. so have you bought another PV? had yours in for repair? still running just as well? your blogs are maybe up for an update say every 6 or 12 mos.?
I particulary enjoy that you did take the time to explain a few years back the Pv was breaking barriers.
Most new PVs are exciting for a limited time. ??

Provari is still my main PV man. Love it to death. I have a lot of PVs since buying the Provari but its still my main PV that I like to use more than anything else and I'd love a 2nd one :p
