I am a not a "green" tree-hugger, however, I am a practical, economy-minded person in general. We were raised to turn off lights when leaving a room, etc. Its not just about the $$, but why *waste* anything?
I began to think about vaping and all the broken stuff, and also about how many "drawers full of stuff" vapers have that may have been tossed in there and will never be used, whether juice or hardware. Then of course, there is proper disposal of such items as batteries, etc. and the landfill issue.
So, in an effort just to address the "waste not, want not" meme, and people's feelings about it (whether it be economics like saving $, or even just spiritual or otherwise philsophy, share your thoughts around this. Here are mine:
1) Buy repairable and/or rebuildable hardware:
I will buy from companies like Provape, Reomods, etc. because their stuff is repairable. I'm sure there are more....I was just putting those down off top of my head. Instead of ending up in the landfill, many things can be fixed and used again. Ditto rebuildable stuff.
2) Spring Cleaning: Make your vaping drawer part of your spring cleaning.
Put together a kit for a co-worker, or a co-worker's "aunt sally who needs to quit smoking". I prefer to give stuff away in ECF PIF areas like treasure chest, since "takes" are recorded and posted, and to me that means the highest number of vapers will be served. This is a personal preference, however, and only because I know of no "verifiable", formal, well-established giving programs out in the real world--- However, giving should be just that. It is best when done with a gracious heart and not a lot of judgement. ;-) But we all have our "preferences" and that is absolutely fine and you can give to whoever you wish.
3) 2) Pass it on, Pay it Forward
I am always surprised how many members do not know about the PIF sections of this forum. There is also an Emergency Needs program that has to go thru the mods.
Your throw-a-aways may be the very thing that another vaper would be so grateful for and the difference between vaping and going back to analogs for them, whether it be job loss, budget, senior living on fixed income, or just friends wanting to help coworkers and other friends but can't afford to buy everybody starter vaping kits.

Bookmark / subscribe to these, whether you plan to be the giver, or the taker, or both. (There is nothing wrong with being on the receiving end even if you are not desperate....it gives you an opportunity to try stuff. Maybe you will get something that allows YOU to pass on what you have now....it's all good!!!).
There are different rules for each PIF group, for instance, in Treasure Chest, you can specify where you want your gift to go i.e., somebody with less than 50 posts on ECF, newbie, etc. if you feel you want to help a certain population.

Do not asssume that because you have simple Ego batts that nobody will want. A LOT of members buy this stuff cheap so that they can pass on to co-workers, etc. Just can't afford to pay a lot. Don't assume that yesterday's techology is unwanted. 2 regular ego clone batts and a clearo/carto and charger IS the lifeline to somebody's co-worker or relative who needs to get off cigs. Sell it cheap and pass it on! Dont' let it sit in a drawer.
It is always nice to see FREE stuff in the classies -----too-----or, see ***
4) Sneak it out - Give extra ***: Another way is that when you sell something in the classies, toss in some stuff you won't be using. That person may end up passing it on to somebody, or using it themselves. A lot of people do this by the way, it's kinda fun
5) Encourage vendors you use to give to Vape a Soldier and/or other charitable organizations. Ask at your church and other community organizations.
6) Encourage vendors you use to give a % of their proceeds to orgs that help people vape, whether it be the local domestic violence safe house, or where-ever help is needed. Search for vendors and charitable orgs that help people vape. (I am really getting to be a stickler about this....I no longer use veterinarians that don't do volunteer work or give something back to local cat/dog shelters, etc. I want to help you prosper but I want to know you care about the population that puts food on your table, too!)
7) get cards from CASAA and put them into every package you mail out. The more the merrier.
8) Buy a newbie a supporting membership to ECF for their birthday, etc. The more the merrier.
People have often asked me about postage. You can send a couple bottles of juice and/or a few boxes of cartos First Class Mail for around $2.00. This stuff is all VERY CHEAP to mail. Esp. if you use e-postage online. Very few things weigh enough to make the more expensive Priority Mail necessary. There's really no reason for stuff to be sitting around inside drawers because it's really cheap to send it out.....or just give it away. People who want vaping stuff at the shoemaker, the laundromat, at the grocery store, at picnics, etc.
The vaping community is growing by leaps and bounds, we need a good pipeline so we can avoid waste. If we piled up all our "in the drawer, not using, etc." stuff up in a room, I bet it would be a pretty big heap?
The point is not just anti-waste, but getting more people into vaping and off analogs. Pass it on.
ECF and members have been a tremendously kind, fun, knowledgeable group of people. It's really an amazing resource and can always be improved with our thoughts and feedback.
