One month of monitoring my usage...lol!

(This is just a bit of fun, you're not meant to take this too seriously but the data is real!)

So, I started wondering back in January what my usage of nicotine really was and whether or not I could identify any discernible trends.

At the end of January, I DIY'd 30ml of 12mg Virginia-Honey juice and carefully marked each 2ml on a sticker on the side of the bottle. I left this to steep for nearly 10 days before using. On February 1st, I began using a fresh cartomiser, filled with said 12mg juice and at the end of each day, recorded how much I had used to the approximate nearest 0.5mg. Throughout February, I consistently used my trusty 510 pen-style with 280mah battery power and Boge SR cartomisers. Two days, however, consisted of using an Ego-T as I was driving a long way home to visit my Mum for her birthday and didn't want to have to keep stopping off at services to fill my cartomiser. Three weeks into the month, however, more juice (in the same strength) was DIY'd.

On a day-to-day basis, the greatest usages were on days when a new cartomiser was required, at which time 2.5ml was usually used. This, however, does not take into account what was actually used but more that this was the amount added. Unsurprisingly, long days with late nights and alcohol also proved to have the highest usage. Period of stress, however, did not have the expected increase in usage. Awaiting important blood test results, getting ready to go on dates or wondering afterwards 'why hasn't he called', for example, would normally have involved heavy chain-smoking and nicotine consumption but this was not the case with the e-cig. A further trend was the use of a tank system in which the usage was 1.5ml. I have previously wondered if my usage is increased with using a tank system as there is less juice to hide in nooks and crannies as there would be in a cartomiser. Particularly busy days where vaping would be difficult vaping usage appeared to be consistently lower. It should be noted that this would not have stopped me finding ways to smoke, indeed I probably would have chain-smoked when outside.

Overall, while it initially appeared that there was no overall trend in my usage, an application of the linear trend line suggests a weak negative correlation between time and use at only Rsquared= 0.11. While I am currently unable to prove whether this is statistically significant (too lazy to get the software from uni and it probably won't be as the data size is too small!), this trend is encouraging. It is, at least, a trend and in the right direction!

My conclusions after one month of researching my own usage are that:
a) I can lower my nicotine to 11mg next month and probably not go crazy as a result!
b) I am awesome!
c) E-cigs are awesome and even without a conscious effort to reduce my nicotine intake, I am doing!
d) I have too much time on my hands! I need a new hobby...
e) He's never gonna call!

Great post! I'm new to DIY, are there any easy ways to test older juices to see how much nic it has lost over time? like test strips?
