My housemates and tonight's drama! Part 2

But tonight...oh tonight! Now that the scene is set, I can tell you about tonight!

At 11pm (approximately), I heard a lot of banging downstairs, the screaming of 'f you!' (sorry, I'm quoting!) and a door slamming followed by what I presumed was coughing. To be honest, I wasn't paying much attention for a while but then there was a very loud, very aggressive knocking on Ms Beelzebub's door...

I went outside my room to find her boyfriend stood there. I told him that I didn't care what had gone on between them but if he continued with this aggressive behaviour, I would be forced to ring the police. One look at his face told me he wasn't going to be violent so I took him downstairs to find the hallway and downstairs loo had been well and truly puked over (Ms Beelzebub!) and the stench unbearable. I offered him a cup of tea to try and get him to calm down. He started crying and I gave him a hug (he didn't smell of vomit, hence how I know it was her). We sat in the living room and he told me that he'd broken up with her because he'd found out she was cheating on him, and this wasn't the first time. I didn't mention that I'd overheard her reading out text messages which I assume were from the 'other man'; 'last night was incredible', 'sending you warm and tender kisses'; through my door... maybe I should have done...

Anyway, he'd managed to recover some of his stuff which she'd been storing for him including a rather large TV. He was largely upset about the breakup and her lies, but the poor guy wanted his stuff back. I'll be keeping an eye out around the bins in case I find anything obviously his! They'd been planning on moving in together but that's well and truly out of the question now. I offered to drive him and what he'd managed to gather home as I'd have to move the car anyway for him to get that massive TV out of the driveway. Plus, I wanted to make sure he was well away from the house and the likelihood of damage to property or person was diminished which only heightened when he said she'd 'attacked' him earlier. I don't know what that means but it sounded like a good enough reason to get these two people in separate post codes!

On the way, he told me that she'd had a gambling problem and had gambled £2000+ of his money away. She's also been dating a 38 year old teacher behind his back (she's about 22 or 23). What's more, she's got a job in an estate agents starting on May 1st and her undergrad dissertation is due on May 10th which she doesn't care about. I learned many interesting things this evening from her ex boyfriend...this was the first time we'd ever had a conversation...

The vomit is still all over the hallway downstairs and all over the downstairs loo, nearly 4 hours after it was put there. I've taken photos and if it is still there by noon tomorrow, I'm emailing my landlords with photos. It will have been there for over 12 hours and will be damaging their carpets as well as stinking to high heaven. If nothing else, I want to ensure they don't let her stay on past her tenancy for any reason. Vomiting all over your house (genuine illness, not excessive drinking, excluded) and just leaving it is so far beyond acceptable, I can't even think straight. At 8am tomorrow we have a gas engineer coming to our house to fix the thermostat... I dread to think what he'll make of it. I'm hoping he'll take one look and walk out so I can actually ring my landlord. I physically can't clean up someone else's vomit as the smell makes me feel poorly too so at least I have that to tell my landlords!

The best part is that they can't complain. I diffused a situation which could have been perceived to escalate towards domestic violence and got said man out of the house. Both 'little Himmler' and Ms Beelzebub MUST have heard me threaten to call the police so if they want to have a go and say I 'meddled' then they can shove it because I perceived a genuine threat to both the property and the residents- at least until I saw the guy and had him cry on me!

So what has all this got to do with vaping? Firstly, I'm still on a downward trend of nicotine usage, despite the wallies I live with. Plus tonight, I stuck with 8mg despite the massive stress of what could have been a rather ugly altercation. I had a rather elevated heart rate when I was threatening to call the police (as you would!) but otherwise I was cool, calm and collected. This would usually have provoked chain smoking! The fall-out over the next few days will be interesting though...

OK rant over...

OK...Part 3...

Belzebub and her boyfriend are back together... I bought a steam cleaner using the money her boyfriend gave me for petrol and cleaned the oven (oh, such joy!)...and I'm vetting my new housemates for next year. Question #1: Can you change a lightbulb. Question 2# Vomiting on the carpet and leaving it for 12 hours, cool or gross? Hopefully I've got a good one moving in next year! HE seems like a nice guy and is in my department so we should be able to have lots to talk about. When he looked round he commented on a book on my desk and I nearly hugged him! More importantly, the following day, Belzebub came and apologised because her boyfriend said she should- how terribly sincere! As it stands, I continue to live my life my way and they can take a running jump otherwise! Earlier today I was in the kitchen and Little Himmler walked in and we duly ignored one another. I maintain that if the response I'm going to get to a request is 'I'm not listening to you' then it's not worth my time to speak to them. It's kinda awkward but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!x
