Something I've noticed about some (not all) of the new style Aspire BDC replacement coils is that it takes a long, long time for them to get properly primed. They recommend letting them set for 3 to 5 minutes. I recommend letting them set for about an hour. Simply drawing without firing doesn't really seem to do much to help it along either.
Update: It seems I got a couple in a row that were partially blocked from wicking properly in the beginning for some reason or other, *shrugs*
