Review: Backwoods Brew, Prime Vaping, Halo, Janty Ejuice

1IgMk.jpg

Disclaimer: With the exception of Janty RY4-SH, BWB Casablanca & Halo Torque 56, all the other juices have been steeped for a maximum of 1 month. I've used the products for the last two months before reviewing them here.

I'm also in no way a taste/flavor connoisseur. I will try to explain my experiences in layman's term.

Backwoods Brew

The people at Backwoods Brew were very generous to upgrade my 15ml Malty Toffee into two bottles of 10ml!

The package from BWB got here in Toronto, ON from New York in just 5 business days! All the bottles were filled to the very top!

All of the juices ordered from BWB are of 18mg nicotine content. They are all 70/30 PG/VG mix, with the exception of Malty Toffee which is 30/70 PG/VG mix. All of the 70/30 juices produce a lot of vapor, which is a little surprising. The 30/70 Malty Toffee vapes like a chimney!

Bacco : 5 /5
The juice smells very pleasant with a hint of citrus. Killer throat hit, the best I've ever had. It's so strong, yet not harsh at all. I think there's a bit of menthol in there to cool off some of the edge of the hit. On the inhale there's a slight cool citrus-y taste and almost no taste at all on the exhale. After the smoke leaves your mouth there's a pleasant mild appetizing taste in your mouth that just makes you long for more.

The tobacco base is just amazing, something that is consistent with all of the BWB juices I ordered. It's my favorite of the bunch and I could vape this all day! On day 1 there was a satisfying sharp edge to the tobacco and over time it mellowed out a little bit. It's good either ways and ready to vape from day 1.

555 Exotic : 2 /5
This was rather odd. There's a strong cult following of this juice that swear this is the next best thing since sliced bread! However, my own experience was horrible from the start. The juice smells pretty bad, a distinct smell like lentil that I've noticed on other tobbaco juices from other vendors. Over time the smell went away a little bit but it's still a little nauseating.

To make matters worse, the juice tastes a bit like perfume, I know it's weird but that's the exact thought that was in my head every time I vaped it. It has such an artificial taste, which is the total opposite of of other BWB juices.

I let it steep for another two weeks and it was still garbage. Traded.

Malty Toffee : 4.8 /5
Another one of my favorite from BWB. This was the best smelling liquid of the bunch. It smells just like Toffee! First couple of days I could not taste the Toffee as much, instead it had the Malt flavor and it was very tasty! Starting the third day, the malt flavor muted a little bit and out came the Toffee...and it was another kind of tasty! On the inhale and exhale there is a pleasant taste of toffee, not artificial toffee flavor or cheap toffee, but rich real toffee! Being a mostly VG juice, this produces thick clouds of vapor.

The best part about this juice? Well, when I was vaping it and even hours after that, the whole room smelled like sweet toffee. It's smelled like I was in a toffee shop! No incense, air fresheners or candles has ever smelled this natural!

The downside? Being a VG dominant juice, it has little or no throat hit. If BWB can keep this taste and add some throat kick to it, I would order it in drums!

Honey Flu Nut Tobacco : 4 /5
Just like Bacco, with an added honey taste. After a few puffs you don't notice the honey as much. The throat hit is slightly milder and the overall intensity of the flavor is toned down a quarter notch. Not really a honey fan.

Casablanca : ? /5

This flavor is very complex. It's a distinct flavor and I've never vaped anything that tasted like this.

I could taste roasted nuts and a little bit of cigar tobacco. It's a spicy flavor with subtle hints of cinnamon. It's a rich, full and bold flavor that is often a little tricky to describe.

The throat hit is great like all the other 70/30 BWB juice.

I did not give it a rating because I feel like I am not eligible to. It's a very complex and carefully crafted juice that stands out from the competition. Unfortunately I am not a fan of any of it's many flavors and I traded the bottle back after a week.

Prime Vaping

This is going to be hard. The people over at Prime Vaping seem like a very nice bunch. If they were my neighbors I'm sure we'd have each other over for dinner all the time, even if we lived in the New York City. My email communications with them were prompt and informative and my invoice is covered with hand written notes. They even offered first class shipping to Canada upon request. Their prices are very reasonable as well. But the juice on the other hand...

All of the juices ordered from Prime Vaping are of 18mg nicotine content. They are all 50/50 PG/VG mix.

PV4 Prime Vaping's take on RY4 : 2 /5
This juice is on the #4 spot (well, #2 now since the top two have been discontinued) on E-Cigarette-Forum's The Really Big RY4 Roundup. I had very high hopes for this and I found out first hand that this tastes nothing like the other RY4s I've ever tried.

This juice should be called Boston Creme instead of a variation of RY4. It smells and tastes just like custard filling of Tim Horton's Boston Creme donut. It's very sweet with a sour undertone. RY4 traditionally is a blend of Tobacco, Vanilla and Caramel. The tobacco is almost non existent, very strong vanilla and mild caramel.

I left it in my Stardust for a few days and a foul sour taste filled the entire clearomizer. Over time the sour undertones really took over and the juice turned for the worse IMO.

Waffle with extra flavor : 1 /5
Terrible. I was hoping for the sweet sweet smell/taste of Liege Waffles, kind of like the ones made by Wanda's Belgian Waffles. If you have ever walked past one of their stores, you'd know what I mean.

Instead what I got was a juice that smells like chemicals and tastes like cheap maple syrup. Not even the good kind, but something even far worse than Aunt Jamima's. It also had a coconut undertone as well. Traded it in as well.

Halo

Torque 56 : 3.5 /5

My first Halo juice! It is of 24mg nicotine content. I don't know the PG/VG content as Halo likes to keep this a secret.

I got this sealed. I broke the seal and took a sniff...my god it had a strong chemical scent. I dripped a few drops on to my Got Vapes Hybrid atty and took a hit. It had a throat hit that would even make Ron Swanson cough. The flavor was similar to Bacco, but very mild and very non existent. The taste/vapor was very dry and harsh. Vapor production was satisfactory however.

I let this steep for two weeks, first and last day with the cap off.

It was still very similar after steeping. The chemical scent had mostly gone away. Still very dry, strong and harsh. If I'm 40, still vaping and have developed a taste for dark liqueurs may be then I'll come back to it.

This is tied with Bacco for my favorite of the bunch. I picked this up from a member at the E-Cigarette-Forum. It is of 24mg nicotine content and 100% PG I believe. I should note that this is the best dripping bottle I've ever used. A very small opening that lets out very small drops, it's fantastic for dripping.

The juice has a delightful smell. Smells like when my mom makes caramel on a pan just before pouring the pudding mix in it.

Like Casablanca, this also has a very rich flavor. A very good tobacco base underneath a subtle vanilla covered in rich caramel. Caramel is definitely the dominant taste on the inhale, and on the exhale you feel the tobacco kick. Although the juice is sweet, the aftertaste is neutral, making it great for an all day vape. It is currently residing in my Vivi Nova.

Oh and it produces a ton of vapor, which is surprising considering it's a 100% PG juice.

My latest purchases. Review soon!

Thank you for the review. The BWB bacco sounds like something to look into. I'm not familiar with steeping so I'm going to go look it up. Still going through the learning process. Anywho, thanks again for the info. :toast:
