"Tesseract's (revised) Big Damn TVC Round-Up." 10 from The Vapor Chef" - Part 2

Part 1 HERE

Peppermint Pattie
- This one was a bit of a surprise, as in 'I'm surprised it isn't better.'

  • Taste: Right-out-of-the-box, this one has a pleasant mint taste, and rather than being like peppermind candy, it is definitely derived from mint leaves [1] , and this makes for a much more restrained and more complex 'minty' taste. However, the chocolate taste is disconcertingly weak and nondescript. In my experience, chocolate vapes take a lot of steeping to come into their own, which was definitely the case for me with HighBrow Vapor's Dark Chocolate Mint[2] .
That's all that can really be said about this flavor. It's chocolate, and it's mint. This being the case, the flavor hinges on the quality of the chocolate and mint, and is where, as they say, the rubber meets the road.

  • Thoughts: How to state this one right, to strike the right balance? I wasn't like this[3] , but I wasn't like this[4] , either. A mixed bag, indeed. The mint is amongst the finest I've tasted, period. Better than the mint in the aforementioned HBV's Dark Chocolate Mint, and light-years better than any average mint flavor[5] . But, the presence of chocolate is beaten down by the already relatively subtle mint. In fact, I can't really gauge the chocolate on its merits, because there's a presence to it, just enough to say it's present, but it's like trying to spot a dwarf in a mob of vikings.
  • Conclusion: It has a ways to go. The only reason the score isn't lower is because the mint flavor pulls the score up significantly. Without the mint, TVC's peppermint pattie'd be like Peanuts' Peppermint Patty, and receive a D- grade on this test[6] . If you like a very good peppermint flavor, then this is your bag, baby. If you want a chocolate mint flavor, like biting into a York Peppermint Patty, you may be better off looking elsewhere.
SCORE: 5.5 - not steeped; mint flavor is excellent, but the chocolate flavor is very weak and nondescript and destroys the overall quality of this flavor. If, and this is quite an if, the chocolate turns out to match the mint flavors' quality, it will be a huge game changer. We shall see in a couple of weeks.
Edit: After a month, this one fails to improve in any substantial way. Kind of a disappointment. Steer clear. The chocolate is just not there. From what I've read, chocolate is hard to nail down in a vape. To that end, I have a review coming soon of 2 chocolates--5 Pawns Bowden's Mate and Halo's 'Shamrock'.

On Thanksgiving, I got some very bad health news about a family member, and this review went out the window. So, quickly wrap it up:
Honey Perry - It took some steeping, but I see what all the rage is about. To me this comes off as green jolly ranchers but again in a more natural, less candy-ish sweet. It's a delicious mix of sweet and sour. Something about the pear gives a sweet tartness, but not saccharine sweet - TVC doesn't use artificial flavors, so the taste is much more genuine.
SCORE: a solid 8. Even if you don't particularly enjoy pear (i don't) this one lives up to the hype surrounding it. You can buy this one with confidence, just give at least 2 weeks to steep.

Hobbes' Blood
- "Watermelon, strawberry and a very light hint of coconut. Think of the "Tigers Blood" snow cone or shave ice flavor. Just like that!"

HB tastes exactly as described. All flavors are present, and for what it is, it does very well. I'm simply not a fan of coconut, and it is definitely there in the finish, and closes off the flavor medley. It just comes down to if you like watermelon, strawberry, and coconut. The taste is of watermelon and strawbery up-front, and coconut is not really hinted at, per the description. Rather, coconut completely closes out the taste. So, if you like those three, you will LOVE this one.

SCORE: 8 - Tastes exactly as described.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Deep Thought - A solid vape, it's description reads, 'Sassafras pipe tobacco. This is a very deep flavor. Vanilla, sassafras, deep rich pipe tobacco, a little spice. Great for an evening vape.'

I actually really like this one. Its' description reads, " Sassafras pipe tobacco. This is a very deep flavor. Vanilla, sassafras, deep rich pipe tobacco, a little spice. Great for an evening vape." The last sentence is spot-on--its a perfect vape for the end of the day. It also earns the cliché 'it's greater than the sum of its parts,' meaning that the sassafras tobacco, vanilla, and spice all taken together far exceed any one of two of them alone.

SCORE: A solid 8.5. Deep Thought is pretty badass. Not for everyone, but if you enjoy a full tasting tobacco vape, this one's stellar.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frosted Pear & Cranberry - the frosted ones take a while to steep, but, oh boy, they deliver. So, these guys are easy to review. What do they taste like? You guessed it--they taste like pear and cranberry. Frosty Pear tastes like natural pear with a crisp finish and all-natural cranberry, fresh, light and sweet with excellent finish. They are exactly as described, no magic here. No junky artificial flavoring here, these simply taste all-natural.

SCORE: 8.5 - tastes exactly as described. If you want a sweet pear and cranberry, go with these guys right here. They really deliver. The peach is my personal favorite out of the 10. It was also the first one I finished and it went *fast*. If you remotely like peach, then you must get this one. Just remember they need a good two weeks steep time, but you'll thank me.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beeblebrox - Along with Deep Thought and Slartibartfast, Beeblebrox closes out the trio of 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'-themed flavors. It's also my least favorite of the three. Nothing really strikes me about it. Thus it receives a
SCORE: 5

Well, that's it folks. From 10 flavors by TVC, the stand-outs of the group for me are Black Pompom, Frosty Peach and Honey Perry. I say subjective because I enjoyed frosty peach the most out of the single flavor offerings, the Black Pompom is second because it tasted just like purple Big League Chew--yum--and Honey Perry for its sweet blend of pear and honey. As for recommendations, I can't say I'll be re-ordering anything from TVC, except for Frosted Peach.

Thanks for reading..
