DOC's personal mods & gadget PHOTOS.....

Here are some photos of some personal gadgets I've made for myself......mostly for VX2 series ecigs. Notice How I used a couple of UNI-BALL PEN bodies for my PV's? The VX2 attys just screw onto this device just as it would screw onto an original VX2 battery or passthrough. The UNI-BALL has a VX2 threaded brass connector pressed and epoxied into it. The connector was salvaged from a VX2 manual battery.

The first photo features a UNI-BALL PV that has a modular DC connector which allows it to connect to VARIOUS DC power sources. In this example, it is connected to a 4xAA cell holder with a tiny manual pushbutton (actually called a tact switch). The 4 AA cells give me 4.8VDC @ 2,650mAh. This is a FAR CRY from the kit supplied VX2 batteries, which are rated for 3.7VDC @ 220mAh.

This little 4xAA pack will keep this PV alive for many hours.....equivalent to at least a dozen fully charged kit supplied batteries...and with much better vapor/throat hit production. Obviously you have no need to be near a PC or wall outlet to power this rechargeable setup with manual switch.

The 3rd photo shows my VX2 manual FOOTSWITCH passthrough. The control box contains a momentary switch, protection fuse and a 5W rated power resistor which can provide virtually any desired level of current limiting AND the resistance may also be calculated to give many voltages LOWER than the 5 volts supplied by any USB port it happens to be plugged into. Due to the HEAVY DUTY electrical components, this is a passthrough that will NEVER have a wimpy little control circuit that will just suddenly "burn out" on you.....and there is NO LIMIT to how long a drag/hit/puff/draw you can take. Two years from now, it will produce just as much crazy vapor & throat hit as it produces right now....the control circuit simply CANNOT BE OVERHEATED, BURNED OUT OR TIMED OUT....guaranteed. This can be easily configured with small connectors, so that it may be plugged into multiple power sources; such as a USB port, ac wall adapter, car adapter....or even an outboard rechargeable battery pack that will last for many hours....even DAYS on a single charge.

I'd love to help you by extracting the threaded connector out of your dead/weak battery or passthrough and building you a nice little device at VERY LOW COST....but there are too many stiff, anally rules and bungholes around that will not allow me to do this.....so all you can do is just look at the photos and try to figure out how to build your own :( I say this because I know that most of the people interested do not have proficient soldering skills or equipment and that is the very first requirement for such a project. I can usually build something like this in 20-30 minutes, but without darn good soldering capabilities, the attempt to build most mods would be quite pointless.

I'm not allowed to offer my "hands on" technical help to members in a NONPROFIT scenario. This will FORCE me to utilize my eBay account, in which case I WILL be forced to charge a considerable bit more than just my parts & shipping expenses. Like the old cliche goes.....it's a "dog eat dog" world.....no matter where you go....and the old fashioned methodolgy of simply HELPING EACH OTHER is completely abated from the whole equation.....ultimately, it's ALWAYS gotta be ABOUT THE MONEY and that's just simply PATHETIC! I'm NOT claiming that is anyone's fault in particular, it's just the sad way things seem to be....pretty much everywhere.

Doc, if you want to teach other members how to build one of these themselves, you are more than free to post a tutorial in the modder's section. However, if you want to make these for others and sell them, then you, just like all the rest who go that route, would have to register as a supplier/manufacturer here.

The same rules apply to any of the modders.

Just about any. As long as I can extract the required threaded connector from one of your weak or dead batteries/passthroughs, I can make up pretty much anything you want for it. Please PM me by clicking on my photo and selecting PRIVATE MESSAGE

It was my intent to go the NONPROFIT route of asking ONLY for my expenses to be covered, but I guess there is no such ground available for that scenario, since people just think in terms of such absolution as to ASSUME that it is a formal SUPPLY BUSINESS

It's true....there is very little play there Doc. ECF is growing in leaps and bounds and with that we find new mods cropping up, members who want to mix juice and resell it, members buying in bulk and reselling, etc. We have pretty much been forced into making it a rule that anyone who makes a product and advertises it for selling must be listed as a supplier. More and more modders have been changed to suppliers/manufacturers. Sorry....that's just the way it is.

Of course, you are always free to PM SmokeyJoe and explain your intentions to him but in lieu of that, the current action stands.

There is another such forum that is a bit more...."lax" about it and I think my mods would be far more appreciated there. As far as I'm concerned, I'll utilize this forum only to stay up on things happening with Shawn at LiteCigUSA. Shawn is a great guy and an AWESOME SUPPLIER. Beyond that, I'll take my mods and related developments elsewhere, where they will be appreciated. At this point I can see no sense in being a financially supportive member of this forum, since I'm not allowed to offer my "hands on" technical help to members in a NONPROFIT scenario. This will FORCE me to utilize my eBay account, in which case I WILL be forced to charge a considerable bit more than just my parts & shipping expenses. That's totally up to you Doc. As I always say...do what you gotta do....and good luck to you!
