The unveiling continued (That's protective tape on the screen):
About this juncture I stopped laughing. The Bobo may look ridiculous, but it is a serious mod. Having only seen pictures I was concerned it might be made of plastic. It's not. It is a solid piece of metal. The bottom cap is the only thing that feels lightweight, but that may be because the rest of it is so heavy. I didn't have a problem with cross threading, but it's not buttery.
Although it has eGo threading, the connector pin is slightly recessed and a few (but not all) of my CE4 clearos wouldn't work because the air flow was blocked. I don't have any other eGo threaded devices to try on it, but it may need an adaptor for some of them
Honestly, this thing can hold it's own. It's shown here with a Vamo V2 (18650 configuration) and a ProVari mini (standard cap - wrapped like a pirate )
Comparing the weight:
ProVari mini with an 18350 battery and a Protank on it: 171 grams
Vamo V2 with an 18650 battery and the same Protank: 219 grams
Bobo with an 18650 battery and the same Protank: 276 grams
The one button menu is easy to use and the screen is very nice (see PBusardo's review of the Zmax to get a look at it). One thing I really like is that it pauses between function displays. Maybe I'm doing something wrong with the Vamo, but I can't seem to press a button to get a reading on the power level without the level changing up or down.
The Bobo does have the same quirk as the Zmax, where in the menu function to check the resistance, "resistance" scrolls across the screen a couple of times before you get a reading, but it doesn't bother me. Besides, according to variable wattage fans I'm not supposed to know what the ohms of my devices are anyway - math is hard!
An interesting feature the ProVarinati will understand is the button. It doesn't show well in the pictures, but the button is clear and it feels like a ProVari button. It's got the familiar sort of clicky sound when you play with it, and it depresses with the same amount of pressure. The only difference I can feel is that the ProVari button has a slightly round top and the Bobo's is flat.
The button has a nice location and the shape fits well in my hand.
You may notice I keep comparing it to my ProVari. I have to, it blew the Vamo right of of the water. Even down to having a cuter face (I have no idea why it has three vent holes on the bottom):
Bobo says Hello
Bobo is curious
Once again I have exceed the allowable number of pictures so this will have to be continued, but I swear it's the last time!
