Making Peace with my Mech

Yesterday I went out and while completely ignoring my status as an utter noob in the world of vaping, bought myself a device I am given to understand by some on these forums that I have no business owning, and no right to even talk about in public. Apparently I also committed the grave blasphemy of ignoring my station in life as a testosterone challenged gyno-American, and was promptly put in my place by those who resented my rude intrusion into the male sphere of vaping.

Here's what I did it with:

It's a mod, but not just a mod. It's a mech mod, but not just mech mod, it's a magnetic mech mod.
We could refer to it as an M3, but I won't do that as it would doubtless bring down upon my head more righteous male condemnation.

Moving right along.... It's a Sigelei 24 mod. I saw it in the local B&M vape store and had to have it. I just fell in love with it. It's simple, beautifully made, clean, and graciously lacks the plethora of digital readouts that provide you with how many vapes you have done, volts, watts, battery level, your GPS coordinates, blood pressure, EKG, suggested lottery numbers, and your best friend's upcoming birthday.

It's a beautifully simple device that delivers fabulous mato-cumulus vapes bordering on a tornado alley wall-cloud. I could have hidden a destroyer escort from a U-boat in my first few vapes on this thing. For a compulsive chain-vaper like me it's just the thing.

Nevertheless, there were those who resented me for owning it, and especially for posting about it, and publicly saying I owned it. They pounced upon me most aggressively for having to ask any question at all about it. I'm not entitled to a learning curve here being a testosterone challenged mech owner, I'm supposed to already know it all or shut up, hang my head, and skulk away in shame under the malevolent gaze of my (male) betters.

Yeah.... right.... I think not. I'm just not made that way.

I'll buy any hardware I like, thankyouverymuch boys, and if you have nothing civil or helpful to contribute keep your petty lectures and rants to yourselves or I'll welcome you to my ignore list. Yeah, I was told mechs are only for the "experienced" vaper who "knows what he's doing," and not for contemptible noobs like me who have only been vaping for two months and run on estrogen.

Well excuse me all to pieces fellas, but if I don't buy the mech at some point where am I to get this precious experience you so enjoy lording over me? Oh, that's right, I'm never supposed to get it, I'm supposed to know my place and stay in it. Ha! Go finish your homework and clean up your rooms little boys, and I'll get to know my mech/mod without your resentful criticisms and sexist rants.

I had one little problem with this mech, and that was quickly figured out. I really wish I'd not posted about it at all, but I made the mistake of assuming other vapers here were a welcoming community interested in helping me. A few are, thankfully, but as on any forum anywhere online the flamers rushed to the fore and pounced, adding to my ignore list while I figured out the problem with my new hardware on my own.

Suffice to say my new mech has been kinder to me than those who responded to my posts here about it. My new mech and I understand each other now, and I've promised her a new RBA next month. I will not be posting here about that when I get it. I've learned my lesson.

Almost afraid to comment. But even as a man I met the same resistance to wanting to begin using rebuildables and mechs early in my new vaping hobby.
It all comes down to the individuals ability. To me it seemed that many of the people against new vapers trying RBAs/Mechs had problems figuring it out themselves, or they were scared to try, and think everyone else should be as well.

I've been vaping since 2010. At that time there wasn't much available and most people dripped. Vaping has come a long way since then and the new products available are outstanding. I have noticed the same thing as you as far as people thinking you should start with some out-moded poorly working device. Hell with that, lets vape. At a minimum, people should start with a variable voltage device and at a maximum go for the high-end devices or their clones. There is a learning curve with rebuilding RBAs, but nothing that can't be done. And, if you're like me and don't want to put that much time in it, you can get the "new" Aspire Nautilus adjustable air-flow tank system. People allow it works at the level of the RBA. The other day I was asking about some liquids from a certain vendor for my niece who I am introducing to vaping. by the way I DIY my liquids. anyway several people told me those liquids were too sophisticated for a new vaper. I said hey right, really? 99 percent of the time people on ECF are great and I would not be where I am today with vaping had I not found this place. But, for some reason, some people think you should make the same mistakes they made as if it was some right of passage. Don't feel alone, this stuff happens.

i found this most entertaining. i ran into basically the same thing when i went to mech's early on. wondering how far you have gotten into it since this was written. i know i have become a full blown DIY,RDA,high end mech vaporist now coming up on my 1 year vaping(NO analogs) anniversary . best of luck. D
