Standardized E-Cigs

I know e-cigs are still in their infancy and like most everything else has to start somewhere, before standardization sets in. No matter what it is. VHS became the standard video player format over BETA, CDs became the standard over Cassettes and then not in the far distant past CDs were replaced by music in MP3 and other audio formats. DVDs replaced VHS as the standard and Blu-Ray won the battle to become the standard over HD-DVD and one day in the future it will be replaced by something else. Perhaps, but more than one thing, which will then compete to be standardized.

There are many different types of e-cigs, all that use different connections from one another, but will one of these win out over any of the others and become the standard? Would it be so bad if this happened? I do not think so.

I think it would be nice if there were a standard for e-cigs, but I think also there are a couple things that need to happen, before this can, or will be done. I am not talking about just through the use of adapters either, which has already been done. I think it would be nice to have a PV where the type of connection fitting can be easily switched out to accommodate the style of PV that the customer wants to us. Something like switchable face plates on the X-Box 360 and other such things.

Lets say the Ego style battery became the base for the now standardized e-cig, since it has a nice, long lasting battery. It would have a detachable connector where one could place a top for 510 connections if that is what you wish to use, or a KR8 connection. or for any other model out there. Sure, it may seem like a lot of work, and I suppose if e-cigs are standardized, it would make more sense to standardize atomizers/cartomizers/cartridges as well, but I have not that far in advance. I am sure, however some would prefer to still be able to use up their current supplies, before jumping into something like that and that is why I do not suggest standardizing those things at the moment.

I suppose another problem with it, is what would actually win out as the standard? I am not sure where my vote would go as to that, but I am sure there are others who would be more sure and would make the right decisions. So should/will e-cigs ever become standardized as so many other things have been? I do not know, but I do think that it would be a good idea.

I agree with you. I'm especially concerned about not being able to buy a wide variety of e-cig styles, face to face with the seller. I don't have the kind of money to experiment with several systems.
