The conspiracy against e-cigs runs very deep
I just had all most posts on e-cigs edited off the Canadian Cancer Society's stop smoking web forum!!!
And NO I was not trying to sell product or once made mention of my store, in public or private. I have a business, and above all I have myself. My posts on there were personal to deal with my transition from smoker to non-smoker. I had been on that forum from many failed attempts before. On that personal level I would be more than happy for someone to quit using products from any vendor. I'd much rather have that, over someone like myself, dying because they were UNABLE to quit.
When I posted my e-cig experience, the responses were all "Health Canada doesn't approve". My response was to post Health Canada's warning, linked, along with the link found here to the university of Alberta's smoking alternative website.
I made the point that heath canada, by their own admission has done ZERO research and their only comment is possible nicotine poisoning, which also applies to the products in the next paragraph, gum, patch ect which they state they approve, but fail to mention they have the same potential hazard.
That was enough to get my rebuttal deleted, but all the attacks on e-cigs to remain, along with a posting from the MOD paraphrasing the health canada ignorant warning.
Like even the Canadian Cancer Society!!!!! You know that one you buy the daffodils in spring and donate to, hoping to save a life!!! Is there any origination in this country that isn't completely ignorant (not likely) or bought off by some commercial interest (10 bucks says they get large donations from the makers of the patch and gum)???
Call to arms here folks!!! Go to their website
www.smokershelpline.ca
join and tell your story on how e-cigs are SAVEING YOUR LIFE!! Lets get our voice out there, lets return the favor and save some lives..
Again I am not bought off, and this has nothing to do with my business, some things are more important than a buck. If asked by someone on the forum, please recommend your favorite Canadian vendor (other than me), or your source.

Sorry about but not surprised by your experience of censorship.
The thing is there are multiple anti-smoke organizations in Canada. Many operating under the guise of beneficial "health" sites. "Denormalization" is a link on some as is the position against smoking in private residences.
The link below will take you to a list under the umbrella of The Canadian Council for Tobacco Control, click on the name you want then read down the CCTC's page which comes up to find the link for the site you want, click on that. Two I have looked at are cleanaircoalition...andairspace.bc
There are some international sites listed as well.
http://www.cctc.ca/cctc/EN/tcrc/organizations
As far as I can make out smoking likely includes any non-pharma alternative and therefore e-cigs whether they are named or not.
Frightening and maddening activity going on while we just roll over and take another slap.
Does anyone here know how to "follow the money"? It would be great info.

Hey Nojoyet,
CCTC just looks like a group used to pat each other on the back or something.
Reading about them, they were founded in 1974. Since I never heard of them till now, I'd have to say they aren't really doing a good job at their mandate LOL.
To follow the money, check the about_us link:
Canadian Council for Tobacco Control - About Us
Some Heart and Stroke guy, and some QuitNow (whatever that is) people. Think these are the folks that just run around with their hand out for government money. Don't see them focuses on e-cigs yet, and lets hope they never do

Don't waste your time on Cancer sites...
They aren't even cognizant enough to stop driving in rush hour traffic behind Diesel trucks...
It's like dealing with Luddite hippies...
Just focus your attention on Health Canada instead...
That's the best front-line to attack at the moment...
I'm looking forward to getting a prescription from a sympathetic GP to the cause in order to circumvent the Grey Market Ban in the event my orders get halted at Customs...

I'm not worried about the hippies, I am worried about the people that a foolish enough to believe them. I could not care less about what the Cancer Society thinks, and I will certain have a different outlook when they ask for donations.
To get to Health Canada, the only way we can do it, is to get public opinion on our side. The average Joe, if he even knows about e-cigs, most likely heard about them from the news, and Heath Canada's warning. They believe they are bad. We can change that by getting OUR stories and success out there in the mainstream.
Unfortunatly, even the companies that are promoting e-cigs are digging us a hole. A great misconception out there is e-cigs are NOT used to stop smoking but are rather a new addiction. The retailers are scared of making such claims on fears that the FDA or Health Canada will come after them (myself included). So we have e-cigs promoted as "Smoking Everywhere", a kinda way to get around the smoking laws, or a new addictive product with flavors that appeal to kids. Negative PR..
We are being setup, in every way so that the government can step in, with laws and regulations "to stop rouge suppliers from selling questionable products, and to kids" while really setting it up so Pfisers and other drug companies have a monopoly to sell the same thing "in the safety of the drug store" at a grossly inflated price.
We have a chance to turn this thing around NOW with our stories, the real truth. Its been easy to quit analogs, and these darn things are saving our lives!!
Get that message out there, and see how Health Canada fares against a population who's lives have been helped by these things.
20% of the population smokes, and 19% wants to quit. The other 80% wants that 19% to quit. The way I see it, that's EVERYONE, once educated, against Health Canada.

WE can start by not buying daffodils!!
Ever check out the parking lot at the CCS, a lot of Mercedes there.
BTW the cure for cancer is known and has been for quite some time, yet we are still looking. Hard to get research grants if you have the answer. Yup! follow the money.
Does anyone still believe the WHO, FDA and HC are here to protect us???

They are desk bound bureaurocrats that can only hold meetings (which is probably the greatest impediment to evolution) and spout the "drink the Kool-aid" mantra. Did I say bureaurcrat? I meant autocrats. They do not bend, they do not "think outside the box" though it is one of their favorite buzz phrases. They are cowards whose sole goal is to maintain their eletism over the "noise" as they call those that actually do think outside the box and perhaps have the afront to disagree or offer a differing opinion than their's that they view as written in stone. In their handwriting of course.
Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill.

There is no use in writing to the Cancer Society. I did so with the intention of pointing out the benefits to vapers and none smokers alike. But find they are only interested in their own agenda. They read our letters to find aguments against their policies, find reasons to ignore our arguments. In the end they mention the danger to children. It does not matter that there never was a report of children being harmed by e-cigarettes, they say the danger still exists. End of story.
