Just put 3-4 drops of white vinegar directly on the section of wick inside the coil, then set it aside overnight for the vinegar to do its' work. You *could* soak the whole thing in vinegar I suppose, but I don't think it's needed as the only part of the wick that gets that gunky is the part inside the coil.

The wick inside the coil on my E2's gets black and gunky after just a few refills. When I cleaned the last batch I put about 3-4 drops of white wine vinegar on the coil and let the cartos "pre-soak" overnight. After a quick rinse I did a dry burn. At first I couldn't tell any difference but as I continued the dry burn the mass on the coil eventually turned to white ash. I scraped the ash off the coil using one side of a pointed tweezer, and tapped it out on the desktop. I didn't need to do a second rinse, and the wick inside the coil came out nice, white and fluffy (keep in mind most of these have been cleaned already multiple times). I'm vaping one now and the flavor is much better than when I just used water to clean them, almost like new. If you have a little vinegar in the cabinet give it a try and let me know what you think.

Edit to add: Excellent video and pictures, bad!
    Hey BanjoMan,
I have actually been doing this for awhile now. I put the condom on the connector end and then fill the carto up with vinegar (plugs/rings removed) and then put the condom on the mouth end. Place in a empty pill bottle connector side up and let soak overnight, drain, rinse several times, dryburn and refill. Works well for me, nice to see someone doing something similar.

    All the best,
    Wing.

I suppose all of us have different kind of crud. I soaked mine overnight in Vodka, as well as other solvents, and have not found anything yet that does the least bit of good. I haven't tried vinegar yet though. Don't know why I didn't think of it.

The Dentek Brush is something we should all have in our kit.

That makes sense. Anything that would help keep gunk from accumulating on the wick should keep you vaping longer between cleanings.

Been using Vodka here. I'd like to try vinegar but I'm trying to rid my place of fruit flies, this would only attract them...

The first burn I did after using vinegar I didn't think it was doing anything. The burn took a little longer than normal but when it started to turn to ash it REALLY started turning to ash. A few scrapes of the coil and the stuff was falling off like crazy.

My guess is the vinegar gets down inside the gunk and eats it a bit from within. If it works as well on an E2 with the filler ring in place, it might be a cleaning solution for people who don't want to take theirs apart.

Yeah, let me know if it works w/ the ring in place. Would apple cider vinegar work the same? I think that's what I have around. I can always seal them up so the fruit flies can't get to 'em...lol

Cool. I guess soaking the entire carto in vinegar wouldn't hurt anything, but I wonder if there's a need (?). Anyways I'm going to try a few drops on the next assembled R3 I clean and try using minimal water and dry burning with the filler ring in place. If it works well enough it should be a good work-around for taking the things apart to clean them properly.

Edit for Turbo: All I had in the house was red wine vinegar and white wine vinegar. I opted for the white because it was clearer. I don't know that it would matter as long as it acts like vinegar (?).

I have two XL's soaking in a cup of distilled white vinegar, so we'll see what it does. I ain't messing around, tho. The cup is in a pot of water on the stove, regulated to about 180 degrees. Will turn the fire off at bedtime and see what they look like in the morning.

Your theory is that heating the vinegar will make it work better? Just trying to understand the master.
