For those of you using 901 carts on your 510, I did this a while back but instead of using a pin, I drilled a small hole. Same concept, different approach. It does work, but I then ended up switching to the blue foam (and now the screens). The everlasting quest for the perfect cart mod. LOL ![]() Anyway, the pics show where to put the hole on a 901 cart (for you more "visual" people out there).... Super Vent Mod

Just last night i bought up a bag of Marineland Bonded Foam Sleeve "Rite Size U. Says it fits all H.O.T. Magnum canister filters. It cost me $10.00 and was a 3 pack. Tried it last night "folded" first in the vent mod. No good.. Too much air ofcourse and flooded the atty. Tried it again in a new cart. It has a wierd taste to it. I washed the piece i made first. Ran it under hot water and even used from mild hand soap. Rised good under cold water and padded dry. I cant get by the taste. All i can figure is that the material is releasing something in the juice... every cart filler material i've used adds some taste to the juice in my experiance. This one freaks me out as this stuff is not natural as it is. I also had to "Top off" the cart as usuall, so it did not last all day or even more then 1-2 vape sessions as others have reported with it. I've tried everything.. the PTB "Shredded" was close but too much air killed the flavor plus all the juice was not used. |

Nice.. Figured with such an logical mod that someone must of tried it before. Puzzled.. Just looking at it, it looks like there would be a prob with the first filling with the cart emtpy.. The juice would just run right out the bottom. Unless your filling the cart while the poly is in it. Where does the air come in from? All i could think of is from the air that comes in from the atty holes, so it would travel down the exhaust port and some would go back up the cart while the other air goes out into your mouth. Yeah, i also noticed that you go through juice alot faster using the vent mod. ![]() I'm starting to think it would be best to have a tiny cart area and have just enough room for a little bit of filler. That way you could just add 2-3 drops and vape. When it runs out then your done vaping. Then just keep adding drops each time you vape. No waste and all is used plus the bonus is that you know when your done and dont over vape. I'd just start dripping with no cart filler but then i'd be going through attys every week. heh. | |

Eclypse, Thanks for this mod! I have tried everything with carts PTB, brass screens, poly, fluval, and finally gave up and just drip. But when I go out it's nice to use carts. I really love my 401 when out and about but the cartridges are terrible! I've been using one pin hole on my 401's, 901's and 510's for a week now and this is great!!!! It really does work. I can get a TON of juice in that stinking tiny little 401 cart and use it ALL up! Huge difference if I accidently grab one I haven't put the hole in yet. Oh and I have settled on the fluval with the pin hole. Working great. Thanks!

Thanks aschimdy! Glad you like it. I've came to notice something just today. For the past week i've tried some other juice that my Dad gave me and really really liked it. Some tobacco flavor from www.cloud9smoking.com. Anyways, ever since using it i noticed that there was alot of juice still left in the poly. Its a darker brown liquid so it was easy to see. So i stopped using the poly and tried the blue foam.. that was'nt any good. Then again tried the shredded lipton pyramid tea bags and that was working great along with the single small hole vent mod. Now that the new bottle ran out i had to go back to the TW Marlboro stuff i was using prior. I used the tea bag last night and noticed it flooding the atty too much. Then this morning i went back and tried the poly again and my idea was right. The poly works best with thin juice. Dont use thick juice with it as it will get stuck down in the poly and cant run down to the atty bridge. So for me its clear.. poly works fine with thin juice using my vent mod. Thick juice use something else like the tea bag. Now i've got a prob as i have another 5 bottles of 30ml 24mg TW marl and 5 of the same no nic. hehe. Damn.

I tried this as well and it seems to work well but to be honest, after mastering the double folded shredded LPB mod I am getting extreme vapor, long cart life on a full fill and great pull. Im getting a much cleaner taste and with no burnt taste at all and it seems to work flawlessly so far. Now i will try the same dfslpb mod with the 2 holes and report on how that went. Something about the poly that i dont like is that it has no spring like the lbp mod has so you dont get full contact with the atty with poly, but with the double fold lbp method all the juice seems to go to the top for me and there is a little spring action by shredding the bottom of the lbp. |

Yep, thats my only beef with the poly as well. it seems to shrink in the cart. Working on that too hehe. I'm thinking it all has to do with the atty pushing it down since we cut the poly at the top of the cart. If you hold the cart and atty side by side where its connected, you'll see how deep the atty goes into the poly. I'm gona try cutting the poly down to where it just touches and see if that fixes it.. prob not but wirth a try. Also thinking that the fluval might be the way to go as its stiffer and may hold its shape better. I still have not tried the fluval though. Also i dont think you need the 2 holes.. just the one as i believe all this vent mod is doing is bleeding the air out of the cart. Which you want as air pockets will hold the juice and it wont wick. One tiny whole is all thats needed. them0nk. I dont see why it would'nt work on a 801 cart.. I've never had one so i'm not sure how it works but as long as you can put a hole down at the bottom side of the filler compartment it should work. Please report back if you try it on the 801. |

I tried this with the original polyfill that comes in my 510 carts. KINDA worked, but I'm way too fed up with the leakage that I just can't stand it any more. There's got to be a reason why the cart is sealed up the way it is. The way I see it is this. The problem is with the airflow of the carts. We inhale, which pulls air in, over the heated atomizer, through vents, finally landing in the mouth. The juice then needs to wick back over the atomizer to wet it again. Imagine instead this. The inhale draws the air through the juiced fiber, OVER (not -through-) the atomizer, into the vents, and to the mouth. The action of inhaling ensures that the atomizer is always wet, and because it's not being drawn THROUGH the atomizer, it shouldn't get flooded. The tricky thing would be insuring that unevaporated juice is not sucked in through the vents. Now I'm no engineer, but there's got to be a better way. |
