The straw will help even the stock filler because it allows for a much thinnerpiece of the filler to be used which increases the wicking flow. The whole idea of the plug reservior system is to increase the volume of juice available for vaping. There are many different filler options that can be tried.

The best part of this forum is to hear fro different users and the ideas they come up with. Eclypse and Kristin have done a great service to us with their work. I'm sure that more ideas will come up and things will get even better for us.

Yea I know I have read tons of posts over three weeks. Nothing but time on my hands. It's great that everyone works together on how to improve things.

I will have to try with a straw. And this time I might go all out and read the instructions Eclypse so carefully posted pics of.... lol I thought that a thin piece would leak so I haven't tried it.

Do the sides of the "U" touch the two curved sides or the flat sides of the cart? This is the best tutorial on how to do something I have ever seen. Great job and thanks for taking the time to share the brilliant design of "The Slug" with us.

The sides of the "U" shaped slug touch the 2 curved sides of the cart.

No problem.. If all goes well, there will be another FINAL version of the slug tomorrow.

I have a little window early today from 10-2pmish to play as my kids are at church with the god parents.

Been playing around with the new mod and damn is it working great! Only prob is that it takes so freakin long to empty the cart to see how well it empties to juice.. so testing is slow.

This has got to be alot better then just the slug.

I'm already gona let the new name out as i believe this is gona be a final version.. Naming it Shotgun Slug... and when you see it, you'll see that its a totally fitting name hehe.

    Hits are rediculous and many.

Might release it tonight so i can have time to play with the double cart mod tomorrow.

    EDIT: LEAK TEST IS GOOD!

Just had one standing for an hour on my Protege and just too a hit. HUGE HIT. I swear, the thing is hittin so huge you think its runing high voltage or something but its just 3.7v. Cant wait to see this at 5-6 volts.

Lets just say the atty is being fed and is very happy! hehe.

I'll add more.. gona go test a couple of these chain vaped back and forth to see how hot it runs.. if its just warm then its getting fed perfectly and not runing lean and over heating.

Quick post.. Just wanted to mention that the exact same new mod works perfectly with the thinner PG juice as well. Well it should as its got a slug in it

First time trying my thin TW PG juice in a week or so was surprised it passed the leak test as well. Also this new mod brings out the flavor in the juice. heheh First time i can taste the TW Marlboro flavor. :O

The fluval is made by Hagen and they have information, faq and a search engine and contacts for questions here:

    faq:
Find Answers (Page 1 of 17)

At the top, you can punch in 'aquatic', 'safety information MSDS' and then a keyword - eg. 'fluval' and get a listing of topics.

And a listing of all their filter products including the fluval pads - A-24x series - with the polishing pad 248 being the most advised and the foam filters are the A-22x series. Here:

Holy moly! Ok, so which of these materials is the slug plug made from??

I used the same plug for 7 days. After 4 or 5 days I did rinse it out, but only because it looked nasty - it was still performing just fine.

I use it with a notched drinking straw. We are constantly refining the straw and the plug material. I'm not committed to any one thing except using the straw as a plug stand. After trying polyfil, green scrubbie pads, blue scrubbie pads and the buff puff (BP), I really liked the properties of the BP. It's single direction "accordian" property allows it to expand into the cart and channel liquid to the atty. It doesn't get crusty or hard, like polyfil. We have been working on getting just the right dimensions. My only issue is that the BP can get sucked into the atty once it gets dry and refilling ANY plug system is a bit messy.

I haven't tried the blue foam yet. I've been following Eclypse's progress to see if he gets the right dimensions to stop leaking before I try it with the straw mod. (Why do the work too, when someone is already working on it? Plus, I don't have a pet store nearby and Walmart doesn't carry any. LOL)

I think if the blue foam is used with the straw, you could use a smaller, less dense piece, because you won't need the tension to hold it in the cart. Although, a couple of people have used the foam with the straw and said it didn;t work as well as the BP - but I haven't tried it myself yet.

I just heard of a silver bullet type of screen plug by scubabatdan in the Brass screen mod started by stric9. I am trying it now it and it works pretty good.

Eclypses slug is a little larger than the Marineland blue foam plug I use. I cut the plug 1.5x width and 1.5x length of cart opening. I have not had a leak with any fluid from straight PG to straight VG with this dimension of plug. I do not use a straw or spring, just the plug. The depth of the plug is the standard thickness of the blue foam sleeve. I get 9-15 drops of fluid into the cart (depending on bottle size dripping). If the atomizer is saturated when I re-fill I do not add to the atomizer. If it was completely dry I put 3 drops on the atomizer and then insert the cart. The only draw-back (or advantage, depends on how you look at it) is increased fluid consumption. I used 3ml/day before the mod, I now use 9ml/day. I get more "feel" of nicotine per hit now than before, so fluid consumption went up, but time spent with the PV in my mouth is less.
