The slug should work with it as it was also great with my thin juice. I believe the extra in the U shape helps prevent leakage. If that works good, then try the shotgun slug and see if its better for you.

Try cutting the slug 3 16ths of an inch wide at first.. if it leaks then go with the 1/4" wide.

I'm hoping to try to order some carts for the 801 today.

I already have a dead 801 atty i can cut up to make sure i use the right height for the straw and slug.

all this is really a waste of time....i use blue foam and just cut it so its a little wider than the cart and pretty much flush with the top (901 whistle tip)....it takes like 10 seconds to make and i can almost fill cart full of juice before putting foam in.....all this extra work and hassle is for maybe for an extra drop or two???also when i get a funny taste so i know i have to refill the foam is almost completely dry...blue foam is the ticket and there is no need to mess around with anything else

I've done that LONG time ago.. I cut it a bunch of different sizes and it would not wick good after the first 4-5 hits.. ended up being much the same as using poly.

I'm glad i had saved the bag i bought as i thought i was out $10 for trying it.

SO.. I've tried all ways and the plug/slug/shotgun all work and work perfect. I bet you have not and will not try mine.Maybe if ya did you may see the light.

Oh, i've read up in the original thread and seen others say that it had to be cut perfectly to wick good.. in the end whats the point? Cut a big piece or cut a tiny piece? I'd cut a small piece..

    Do this test:

Try them side by side. One your way and one with the slug. Pull the foam out of each when the cart seems dry. Place the foam on a flat paper towel. Either just let it sit for a couple of mins or squeeze the piece with the other half of the towel. Then look at the wet spot. Which looks larger??

Dont forget to look in the cart as well.. but i bet the foam will be holding most of it near the end.

Just one comment on this, not to promote any particular mod but just to point out a physical fact. Most, not all, 510/901 carts have two ridges on the inside. (the ones from TW that are the 'two piece' type carts like the 801 are different). But the size of the plug matters in the ones that have those horizontal 'ridges' inside because the foam because it's coarser than oem filler, acts much like a horizontal spring mod and has some tension on the sides - a bigger sized plug (even with no straw support) is more likely not to get shoved down past those ridges.

Kent.. not trying to be mean but its hard to understand your post. Proof read and correct please.. Maybe had a few too many beers or were tired. hehehe.

Are you saying that the carts that TW sells are different from the norm? Cause thats where i bought my carts from and they have the 2 lips/ridges in them.

I've tried a bigger plug and it dont wick as good.. basicly way my plug/slug/shotgun are all the same width as thats where the sweet spot is for me.

    Wow! Long thread!

Just letting you know I'm diggin' the plug v1! What a difference!

I was FINALLY able to find the Marineland foam today and snatched a package. I tried all versions (except the shotgun) and decided plug/v1 works for me.

    Thanks!

    Sherry

Oh, I did cut it a bit wider than you suggested...mine is just a tad shy of 1/2" and works great.
