codfish,
Yeah the key to it all is getting rid of the filler, and having some kind of scaffolding to hold the pad.
What I like about the spring is, the size of the pad is not that critical, if it's a little too big the spring will compress and take up the slack.
It's nice for refilling too, I push down with the dropper and squeeze the juice in, if I have a darkish liquid I can see the level rise on these white 801 carts.
have you tyed PTB as filler? i just put some in due to the small amount of polyfill letting to much juice leak.
codfish, wot you talking about!....don't be messin' with teabags, or any other kind of filler down there, just go with the spring and a bigger pad.
btw, she just walk in with some kind of sponge pad from the dollar store (guess how much it cost)...anyway, I snagged it and cut a bit off, shoved it in a cart, and it's a winner!....and would you believe....it's blue!
sepper33,Ooh ooh! I want! Gimme gimme!Haven't seen that one yet- where's it at?
Sorry dood, can't devulge that information..
..there ya go!

Another Kudo for the mod mentioned in reply two. It rocks! Much less work to draw, much more flavor and vapor (for me anyways) and it lasts a looong time. I only have tried the mod referenced in "2" (where the spring is horizontal). Works fantastic for me. Thanks!
Just to inform everyone, my Spring mod mod has been discontinued due to corrosion, possibly due to recently including PGA in my recipes..
Going to have to use stainless steel or plastic.
This is similar to what I've done, except my filler is a pinch of cotton from a sterile swab. (just a quick emergency fix)
I'm also using a shuttle plunger, which I made by simply cutting down the inner barrel of the cartridge. That way the spring doesn't touch the filler and it won't leak into my mouth. Cartridge is for a ePuffer Super Mini, which I found out the atty for it works better if you flood it a little bit. Hence the reason for a slight mod.
The only thing I don't like about using cotton is it tends to steal the flavor from the juice as the volume decreases. A fresh fill has no problem.
Of course the cotton deal is just a temporary thing I'm just playing with. I need to go get some factory equivalent filler, which I found out is HBH polyfiber filter padding for aquarium water filtration. Some people call them "water polishing" filters, or outer stage filters. Both the ePuffer Super Mini and the Smoking Everywhere Gold (SE 3.0) uses a single-ply of it, but it's folded to a double-ply. All you would have to do is cut-to-fit some of it to fit your cart... inner barrels or full sized cart mods, whatever makes you happy.
Just in case somebody is curious - petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754122&utm_source=googleprodu ct&utm_campaign=5071696&utm_medium=cse&mr:tracking Code=F1ABB088-FF8B-DE11-B712-001422107090&mr:referralID=NA - is what it looks like.
Have a nice day.
Shuttle plunger?...I'm picturing some kind of plastic cap over the spring with a hole in it, sounds good, nice level platform for the wick. I've been using blue foam lately, cut about 1/2" long, folded and wedged into the cart.
Yeah, you've got the mental picture there. Except I don't have a hole in the cap. It already has spacers on it to keep it centered in the cart. The air flow goes around it. As long as I don't overstuff the cart with filler it works good.
I'm also thinking about using a "no filler" configuration. Just fill the shuttle, cap the end, put a hole in it, and let it drip.
And, I've heard about the blue foam. Sounds like a winner there too. How's your air flow going with that? Would a small straw shoved down the side improve it?
