Did you cut the notches at the bottom of the straw? I just cut 2 - one on either side of the straw.

You may also have a little too much filler. What are you using for filler material - the blue scrubbie or polyfill? Polyfill doesn't work as well.

I've been using this mod today (with the blue scrubbie) and it's been vaping like a champ. I filled it last night and have been vaping steadily all morning without a refill.

LOL! Just as I said that, my PV started tasting funky. I pulled out the plug and the straw and they were both 98% dry. Just refilled after vaping since about 9am (now noon.)

The blue scrubbie plug has molded itself to fit perfectly in the opening. I didn't even have to use the tweezers to put it back in - it just popped right back into place!

I think polyfill is too dense and forms a vacuum. Try the blue scrubbie - the weave is more open and not as absorbant. It works more like a screen than a plug - keeping the liquid back until the negative pressure is applied with a draw on the PV.

Just cut a piece that is almost the exact size and shape as the cart opening. It's already the perfect depth. Cut the straw to be just short enough to leave space at the top for the depth of the scrubbie. I'm using a 510 whistle tip, BTW.

I've been using the blue foam. I may have to go out and get some of your scrubbie pads to try. I just looked in my drawer at the bag of polyfill, the PTB's, the Fluval and the blue foam. Pretty funny really!

I haven't tried the blue fish tank foam yet. I've been following the "Slug mod" thread and he seems to be having a lot more trouble with it. It may be just a little TOO open-weaved. Now he's doubling it up.

I know what you mean - I just finally got my hands on some PTB and used it once before trying this, lol! But the PTB starts getting stiff and I was finding I had to top off again. A lot of liquid was still being trapped in the back of the cart. By the time I need to "top off" with this RSP mod, the cart is actually empty and needs to be refilled!

But he seems to be struggling with it now, it stops working after a while. Either it doesn't wick or it leaks. I think you have to compress it too much to keep it from leaking and then it doesn't wick properly. I've been watching the thread to see if he gets it to work.

The straw in this mod keeps the material in place. The scrubbie is a tighter weave, so you don't have to compress it to keep it in place and it doesn't flood the atty. You just have to cut it to the EXACT size of the cart opening (outside edge, actually), so it fits snugly.
