If anyone cares, since this is the IT thread, anyone want to share their 'must have' utilities?

Personally, I prefer Process Explorer as a Task Manager replacement, and a few others I can't live without are Process Lasso, ATITrayTools (ignore it if you have nVidia), Textpad, and x-chat.

I really really wish I could find a decent Evolution replacement for windows. I hate outlook, and thunderbird doesn't quite cut it.

CASAA will elect an IT SE to serve as officer for the IT/Security directives in the group. One of the main points of order will be to formalize a comittee of experts to admin the server and oversee tech ops. I can't say who exactly will be holding that position, but you sure have my vote to be part of the internal comittee with access to the server.

Not utilities, but Open Source set of EVERYTHING.

I feel naked without access to a dedicated Slackware Linux box at ANY time. This is why I allow an alternate ssh port forwarded through my Fios home router 20down/5up.

AIX ssh, Linux ssh, & Windows (via putty) access to port 22 (alternate port externally fw. internally) for sure.

We need to determine a groupware/communications tool for committee and board meetings. Webex or Microsoft Office LiveMeeting are the most robust and I have some inside track on the latter, but it is not open source. A "quick and dirty" option I've found is WebHuddle--it seems to work well enough and is open source, but I'm not sure if it has all the features or flexibility everyone will want. I strongly suspect it can be made to work, but we need some feedback.

Have not tried it with just audio (VOIP). Anyone have experience there?

I have quite a lot of experience with just VOIP audio with LiveMeeting, actually. In 2004/2005, I worked for Microsoft Office LiveMeeting in Event Support providing technical support and meeting assistance wherever needed for corporate events...and that primarily meant hosting and supporting the VOIP plug-ins--it was not built-in to the product at that time, but we were beta testing the version that included built-in VOIP.

I'm really not a huge M$ fan, but LiveMeeting was actually developed by PlaceWare, a Portland local business that was "acquired" by Microsoft in 2004.

I'm brand new to vaping and just found the forum recently. Still trying to get the "lay of the land." (i.e. lurking and limiting my posts to where I think I have something useful to say).

Anyway, I am a Lead .Net Developer and SQL Server DB Designer (MCSD, MCDBA, MCSE, MCTS - Web Apps) for the second largest IT hardware and service provider in the US. Been developing with .Net since Beta 2. Would be glad to offer any assistance.
