Nice review, Leaford. Very even-handed. These obviously are still in the embryonic stage. I'm going to wait for them to grow up a bit.
The main reason I did not buy this model was because of the disposable atomizer cart combo.
Rob, that's the ONLY reason these exist. They are the first marketed disposable. Not everyone -- probably few people, in truth -- wants to fuss with and over a device all day. The first company that produces an inexpensive, reliable, tasty and disposable e-cig will own tomorrow's market. Combine this with the design of the E-Pack and you have tomorrow's e-cig. Consume and chuck!
I assume you still use and refill your Zippo? Some do; most don't. It's "most smokers" these are aimed at.

after reading this review, I am kind of disappointed I didnt buy the smoke51. I want something that resembles a real cigarette. and this pretty much seems to do it. The only thing that prevented me from buying it was the price. what are u really getting for 150 dollars. Even with a discount code. Your only getting really 2 batteries, a charger, and 2 carts. They should have AT LEAST given you a free package of cartridges with your starter kit. the fact that they dont, was what stopped me.
I put in the discount code, and it came to roughly 99 dollars. Then with shipping and fees it was like 112 dollars. Of course you have to get the cartridges, at LEAST one pack of cartridges, so thats another 15 something dollars added to it, So now your looking at 130 dollars with a discount code. Thats quite a bit of money. And everytime you replace the battery its 50 friggin dollars.
I really would love to know how sturdy their 1 year warranty is. and another thing, if your smoking 2 catridges a day roughly, 2 carts = five days. So thats roughly 30 dollars every five days. just seems too pricey.

The most impressive part of this is the fact that the cart lasts for so long. Everything else seems like a draw back.
I love my 901, but sometimes I need heavy hits and I get on the pipe or cigar. It seems like with a throat hit that does not even measure, the smoke 51 would cause me to constantly go back to the big guns after the first day.
Take the 901 and improve cart life and battery life and it will kill the smoke 51 on all accounts.

Nice review, looks like a nice product, but the price is a little too high for me. I'm waiting for the janty pipe myself...but if not for that coming I would try one of these.
Leaford man, you rock the mustache well. You should curl out the edges and wear a top hat and film your reviews in black and white...like the old style villains...that would be beyond awesome...as long as you did the sinister laugh at the end...muaaahahahhaha. I think you could totally pull it off.

Yeah it is expensive. No denying the batteries are over priced, and while $3 per cartridge is still cheaper than cigarettes, that's the best I can say about that. Cheaper than some brands of prefilled cartridges, I suppose, especially considering how long they last. More expensive than refilling or dripping, though.

Speaking of refilling, I ran out of fresh cartridges so I am experimenting more, and I think it may have been the e-liquid I was using that made me fail before. I refilled two cartridges yesterday with a different brand, and they both worked well. One of them is still working now, the other just died this morning. It suddenly seemed to clog up, then I got a spurt of a burnt tasting brown liquid in my mouth. Yuck. But it worked all night before that.

Green Smoke
Hey Leaford....been watching a lot today!! your youtubes are very informative!! I just discovered ecigs today and am totally excited....
2 part question....1 i found a company called green smoke on ebay..... They dont come up on google...and i am new here so i can't past the link but its greensmoke dot US and it looks like the exact same product as smoke 51 can you confirm?
secondly i am in discussions with a business collegue to maybe start out own manufacturing line of an e-cig...(he is in that business and will be handling all that legal technical info)....i was wondering if you would give me a list (aside from battery improvment...and thick vapor etc) of things you would like to see in an e-cig you have yet to find?
definetly want to know about green smoke though as they are about $50 bucks cheaper....and in my opinion a cooler name...
thanks!

I can't confirm, but it does look like it. Note that the $99 price is a holiday special, and also you can get the same price from S51 with the 1/3
As for product ideas, go modular and have a bunch of battery bodies that all use the same atomizer. There's the begining of it in the long and short batteries from s51, and the interchangeable switches on the Janty Kissbox. Take that same idea and expand it. Have lighter sized batteries for long life, shorter batteries on a keychain for a little pocket vaper. SOme with manual switches, some with automatic. Huge pipe battery sized ones. You could hae a whole suite of designs all using the same atomizer, chargers and cartridges.
Also, make some stealth e-cigs. Ones designed to look lik pens, laser pointers, etc. Urban Camoflage.
Or, go sci-fi and make them look like light sabers, sonic screwdrivers, or something.

From what I've been reading, the m401 (specifically intellicig's version) outdoes both this model and the 901, which has me very interested in trying them out.
