OH, speaking of the charcoal side, after the fire was out for about 10 minutes, the temp on that side (closed lid), got up over 300... AFTER it had cooled off for 10 minutes.
My grill was about 5 feet from the garage when it went up. The garage is about 30 feet (?) from the back porch, and it melted all of the birdfeeders hanging from the back porch, and warped the vinyl siding on the back of the house. It also cracked the concrete floor inside the garage.

I wasn't home, was at boyfriend's house about 20 miles away. Ian called and said he was going to cook some BBQ chicken, was I going to be home for dinner. I said no, go ahead without me. He turned on the grill to preheat, went inside to use the bathroom. Looked out the window, the corner of the garage was in flames. Apparently, the connector between the tank and hose was loose, at least that was the conclusion the firemen came to. Very thankfully, no one was hurt, and it didn't take out my neighbor's garage 10 feet away, and insurance covered building a new one. Haven't had a gas grill since.

I left work at the obligatory an hour late. Got home. Today was a gym day, but I skipped out on it because I had some fresh jalapeno peppers that I wanted to stuff with bacon, chicken, and cheddar. While Im prepping the peppers, Mrs E goes to work to decorate a few cakes, leaving me with the Hellion Trio. I get the peppers stuffed and get them put on the grill. Start frying up the remaining bacon and slice the remaining chicken breast up into strips. By the time the bacon is done, the peppers finish up, I go get them off the grill, bring them in, and taste them. They came out DELICIOUS. Now, I left the grill on medium heat, as I always do, to burn the crispies off. My plan was to start the chicken, then go turn off and clean the grill. So, I start cooking the chicken strips. In the meantime, I start cutting up my second pepper. I notice an unusual odor. Familiar to me, but I cant place it, and pass it off as the pepper/chicken/bacon/cheddar combo. All the while, Ive got chicken in the pan. I start to smell it again, when it hits me. Its a grease fire. I run out side. My grill is engulfed in flames. I run inside, tell my oldest to get the pan of chicken off the hot burner and move it to one that wasnt on. I grabbed the extinguisher and an oven mitt. Get out side, shut the gas off, throw the lid up, and as expected, the flames shot even bigger. I hit the flames with the extinguisher, empty the whole bottle (2.5lb bottle). Flames are out. The whole grill is glowing bright red, all of the hoses and fitting melted off. The valve knobs melted off. Glass on the thermometer shattered....

Even though the night started well, and the stuffed peppers were amazingly yummy, I melted a $300 grill... My baby is now a smoking hunk of twisted metal...
I don't think he should win...his peppers were delicious. Everything was a little hot.

Bamrz, that is awful! I always worry when the guys have bonfires out back. I am always positive the wind will change and my house and woods will catch fire. Yes, I am the person that always has the garden hose sitting next to their chair.

Which does prove to be fun in chilly weather, I spray the guys chairs when they're not looking.

Good night Sallie. Be careful driving tomorrow. I assume you are not taking the new car.
