It's adhesive backed vinyl, I think I picked it up on ebay.

I really like how this normalizes the knurled ring near the top (hell, even celebrates it)

really like the over-all effect! makes me think I don't need to go as far as copper etching to achieve same general effect.

You know, I have a cutting machine (basically a plotter/printer with a blade attached). I could make these for people. I actually used to make custom cut laptop, phone and iPod wraps and decals. Hmmm... Any interest?
