Dipropylene Glycol (Fragrance Grade (DPGF))

So I have been doing research on mixing my own eliquid, and I came across a DIY theatrical fog juice recipe using Diproplene Glycol.

70%DPG/30% Distilled H2O

Has anyone tried mixing eliquid using Dipropylene Glycol in place of Propylene Glycol? From what I have read it seems like it may produce a thicker vapor. I looked over the material safety data sheet and it looks similar to PG, but I wanted to see if anyone had any input before I started mixing.

I guess you're the first to think of this.

Seems it'd toxicology is pretty safe, and produces no
toxic products on heat decomposition.

But probably it's an unknown for vaping,
the above says 'slightly soluble in water', but other sources say
it's fully miscible with water.

With a higher boiling point (230'c) than PG (190'C) & lower than VG (290'C).

The reason it makes denser smoke is presumably due to a larger micro-droplet size,
but I'm unsure whether that is caused by it's bigger molecule (than PG)
which is also true for VG (which also produces the denser smoke).

Sounds safe, but perhaps do lots of research first, to see if there's
any 'hidden' problems like e.g.

allergic reaction possibilities,
reactivity with other chemicals in e-liquid,
breakdown products due to things other than heat.

Thanks for the information, the more I read about DPG the more intriguing the idea of vaping it becomes. I guess maybe the next step would be to do clinical and animal trials... oh... wait... or I could just try it and let you know if its any different than PG..... However my concious tells me to do more research first..

So I get a knock on the door this evening.. it is a city police officer. He tells me that somebody tipped the police that I was blogging about harmful electronic cigarette chemicals (this post) and I was talking about how to mix the liquid etc.. TRUE STORY.

I showed him my old e cigarette and showed him the liquid and how the whole thing worked. He seemed impressed and told me that if it was illegal, which it is not, it would be out of his jurisdiction anyway. I explained to him how the chemicals are non-toxic food preservatives (PG) and water. He seemed slightly embarrassed and left.

Since my name is not anywhere in my profile, nor my address, and the only identifiable part of this blog is "gtmason" (and my location and avatar pic)... I knew immediately that the only one who would call the police about this is a person from my past who must really have a vendetta against me (to spend so much time online searching blogs for my username) trying to find dirt. What a waste of resources and time for the poor guy, he could have been off busting meth labs or arresting drunk drivers.

I bet I am the only person in the US that has ever almost been arrested over electronic cigarettes. LOL

I have been smoke free since April 5th 09 and I couldn't have quit without the ecig.
