I may be mistaken, but I believe the worst chemicals involved in smoking are produced from the combustion of the tobacco. I'm sure the PG/VG absorbs some harmful stuff, but I'd bet it's only a fraction of what you'd get from smoking an analog.
As for cost, I'd guess 1 Marlboro Red contains about 3 Snus worth of tobacco, which would produce about 45mL of liquid (using my system and ratios, your mileage may vary). One pack, then, would equal about 900mL of liquid, which most sites would sell to you for $450-900.
Does the cost effectiveness balance out the potential for extra crud? That's for the indiviual to decide. Looking at the numbers, though, I may give it a whirl.
The highest has 17 mg of nicotine, that is the same as 1.7% nicotine in tobacco. And they have 5% salt added, so there is more salt in it then nicotine. And that salt is not a good thing, the snus has a high amount of water as well. When using snus as it should be used, only 10 to 20% of the nicotine gets into the blood stream.
So after taking everything into account, they are using water and ph levels, to adjust how much nicotine gets to the blood stream. We are talking about a normal cig's nicotines worth here, from weak to strongest, it's about the same only you have high water, and salt levels to deal with with snus.
I did a warm infusion with about tsp of loose general snus in about 1 ounce of PG. I simmered it in a "triple" boiler (never really got above about 160 F) for about 45 minutes then capped the jar and let it sit in the pantry for a week.
I just filtered it yesterday and tossed it in the fridge, but I haven't had a chance to vape it yet. I'm kind of nervous...![]()
I can't find any PG but I did find Glycerine and somewhere alse I heard someone say they used it?
I soaked 2 Camel Snus for about an hou in 20 ml glycerine and squeezed them ou I added a little water to thin it out.
Will this work?
or is Glycerine the right thing to use?
I just took my Cuban cigar experiment and filtered it in a coffee filter. I then mixed 10% more glycerin and blended it well. I then mixed 10ml of my experimental mixture with 10ml of
36mg of rum flavored juice. I am now vaping a rum Cohiba cigar vapor. So far so goood. I get great vape and it does taste like a somewhat like a rum cigar.
Will report back tomorrow after more vaping.![]()
