It worked for me, I ran some roll yer own tobacco, dried & crumbled through a small 4-cup Mr. Coffee machine, let the pot sit on the warmer to evaporate it down from 4 cups to about 1/2 cup or less. Resulting in a very dark tobaccoey smelling liquid. I don't know how much nicotine is in it but I used about 1 1/2 oz tobacco so started with around 200mg nic, though I doubt if it got all of it from brewing. Here's another method I'm trying now, looks good so far, just takes longer.

    Thanks Harry. Good info.
Hate to ruin a can of Skoal but sounds like it might work.

I got a beaker some glycerin and my oden snus and made up a 50ml batch. I don't know if it's any good or not. I am blogging about extracting this stuff. I hope it will work I used a pinch of citric acid in 50mg of VG wth 6 pouches of 17mg snus. I heated the stuff up n a water bath so everything would not go over 100c. I have to get a candy thermometer so I can judge just how hot everything is. My husband showed me the boiling water trick thing to ensure the temp of the glycerin did not go over 100c (which is the boiling point of water, apparently). It made dark caramel colored goo. I bottled it all in a clean brown tinted bottle and stashed it in my pantry. I am going to wait 20 days and sample what kind of mess I have made

    Now that's interesting Faethe.
I couldn't put it in the pantry around here though.
Someone would wind up with it on their ice cream.

Lol! I have my own personal shelf for mad chemistry now For my next trick, I might try a 50/50 solution of distilled water and VG to try and extract caffeine/tea taste from some PG tips. I love tea flavors Vaping them sounds like fun. You know, the thing is that yeah - the VG really is bland. Or maybe it just takes a really long time to leech stuff out with it. I can try the evaporation thing with the tea bag, meaning boil off the water so the tea goodness concentrates in the VG. I did not want to try that with nicotine because you know, if you screw up, you can poop yourself That's just not how I roll (not since I was 2 or so ).

bumping this thread because I'm really interested in how these experiments turned out for you guys...I haven't tried this method yet but I'm really thinking about it.

On a side note, I used to smoke cigars quite a bit and I still have a bunch of real cubans (don't ask). Anyway I love the taste of cuban cigars and was curious about trying a flavor/nicotine extraction using one, but at the same time I don't want to destroy a finely crafted cuban if its going to turn out nasty to vape lol.

Aw, we can get real Cubans at the supermarket, anyone just let me know if you want one in the post the joys of not embargoing small 3rd world nations.

So having read this thread I was inspired to do a little experiment that worked out quite well, in my opinion.
I took a 95ml former mouthwash bottle (no idea what that is in real money, not big, not tiny) and stuffed it halfway full with coarse shag (haha) RYO tobacco. I wet that down with about 10ml vodka and let it sit for an hour or two.
Stuff was leeching out into the vodka so I topped it up with about 50ml VG and let that sit for 24 hours, giving it a shake occasionally.
After that time had a straw coloured liquid that smelled tobaccoey and was pretty much e-liquid consistency. I drew a few drops off with a syringe and gave it a vape. I got a fairly good tobacco flavour, loads of vape but it tasted a bit 'organic' if you catch my drift. In went a few drops of vanilla essence and a few drops of rum flavouring.
So while it had been sitting all day I had been thinking that nothing goes quite as well with tobacco as a coffee (apart from single malt but there's no way I'm vaping Laphroaig) so into the bottle went another good 5 rollies worth of baccy and a big spoon of coarse ground Java. I topped up the bottle to about 90ml with VG and let it sit again, for another 24 hours. Shake, shake, sit, sit.
When I got home from work and opened it up and had a sniff I nearly passed out from bliss. I filtered it through a coffee filter paper, then squeezed the rest out from the solids though a cotton wool bung'd syringe.
The results - 70ml of strongly flavoured liquid, dark like cola, tastes yummy, appreciable throat hit if taken in a long slow hit with a little air through the corner of the mouth. I cant imagine it has a very high nicotine content but I can see this being a highly sessionable liquid for in the evening - it tastes great, produces lots of vapour and is very satisfying. It's likely to become my liquid of choice for when I'm sat in front of the computer with a passthrough and vaping frequently.
I have a second batch brewing, I'm going to leave it for much longer this time, as I now have as much liquid as I can deal with at the moment. Is it worth putting half a tin of snuff in there to boost the nic content, do you think? It would need more filtering I reckon?
So, anyhow, TL;DR home made liquid, a few quid for 70ml, tasty as anything but no idea of nicotine content, or whether that even matters! Comments?

nice! How does the taste of your home brew compare to that of say a camel or marlboro flavor that you would purchase from a company? I enjoy TW's camel flavor but it doesn't really taste like a cig to me. I'm curious if what you made tastes more like the real thing when you vape it?

It tastes a bit like having a rollie with an espresso, but sweet due to the glycerine, so a sugary espresso. I cant compare it to camel or marlboro flavour liquids (not had 'em), but it's nicer than the generic 'tobacco' flavour.
But I would say that, it's my recipe!!
