Pipe smokers are much luckier in that regard (flavoured tobacco). Apple, Black Cherry, Kentucky Nougat and so on have been around for years. The only problem is that the nice flavours come with tobacco...

I made cherry cheesecake and cherry bubblegum with the Lor Ann flavours yesterday. Despite the pg being in them I just couldn't resist and whipped up a batch for a friend who didn't mind its presence. Good lord it was spectacular!! I omitted the alcohol in my recipe and it was utterly perfect, lots and lots of vapour, tons of flavour. I used:

    (for 0 nic)
    20% distilled water
    10 - 20% flavouring
    70% glycerine

    (For medium nic)
    10% distilled water
20% commercial e liquid high (cherry in my case)
    10% flavouring
    60% glycerine

Default The answer to flavouring safety??

Expipeman has mentioned that you've always been able to buy all kinds of flavoured PIPE tobacco. In which case - does that mean that the flavour materials pipe tobacco maunfacturers/blenders have used have already been tested for suitability and safety to inhale?

Anyone think this might be worth looking in to and if so, got any bright ideas of how to go about it - if Expipeman has any old remnant packaging which has a web address or email address perhaps he could investigate?

I had been a pipe smoker for quite awhile. I tended to smoke the naturally flavored blends (different leaf tobacco blended to a particular taste) but occasionally did smoke aromatics (artificially flavored). PG was the usual carrier for the flavoring but all blenders consider the flavoring components to be a trade secret. Some blenders claim they don't use PG but will not reveal what they use in its place. Good luck trying to figure out what they use. I have never heard of anyone getting ill from the flavorings so they must be safe.

Aargh - trade secrets! Fear you might be correct, Gryffandor.

Still, perhaps someone could persuade the pipe tobacco chaps that as the way forward is in e-smoking, they should consider using their flavouring expertise (and trade secrets) to good commercial advantage by getting into the e-liquid business...?

The U.S. is in the process now of banning all flavored tobacco products -- smoked and smokeless -- except menthol (and that's even on the line). Why? It attracts "children." Ever hear that before?

Hopefully they will not get round to classifying e-liquid as a "tobacco product". It really doesn't bear thinking about.....

I just bought a bunch of LorAnn candy flavors to try. I've been searching around town for a good place to get some PG or VG to mix with it and haven't had much luck, every place I went to (Walgreens, Rite Aid, Michaels, GNC, etc) everyplace I been just has glycerine suppositories.........not what I'm looking for.....lol. Been searching this site and the net and haven't had much luck either. Anyone got a good US source for VG or PG?
