Default Confessions of a first-time DIYer (SNUS & Coffee experimentation)

This is really just another starting point, albeit with a specific focus, on people’s trials and errors in getting a good DIY juice from SNUS. (I know it’s all over the forums in different places here, but this may be a good "OOPS / DON'T DO IT THIS WAY" thread for everyone willing to TAKE THE PLUNGE into the DIY SNUS scene...

    I'll go first...

I just purchased 1 can of Camel SNUS FROST.
After reading SEVERAL responses / advice on how to get the best flavor, nic levels etc... I decided to try something I found after googling "how to extract nicotine from tobacco."

1 - I took 5 of the mini-packs (FROST) flavor and dropped them into a TEFLON pot used for gravy (it's only about the size of my fist).
2 - I slowly added distilled water until I just barely covered the packets. (Actually I used spring water... and I'm sure there are WAY too many impurities in there, hence the reason people should use Distilled here)
3 - Then I hit HIGH on the burner and waited until I started seeing some steam form.
4 - I YANKED the mixture off the burner and poured it (packs and all) into an empty Deer-Park water bottle and put the cap on.
5 - For the next 5 minutes I SHOOK THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS out of the mixture (inadvertently breaking 2 of the packets in the process)...
6 - I put a coffee filter into the mini-Teflon-pot, poured the bottle's DARK LIQUID CONTENTS into the filter, squeezed the whole filter to get every last drop out and put the pot back onto the stove.
7 - Now AT LOW HEAT I left the mixture on burner to boil off as much water as I could (the Google results said I would eventually get "Pure Nicotine Crystals").... Which I did not.

Nows the part where everyone guesses what happened next... I LEFT THE POT ON THE STOVE FOR WAAAAYYYYYY TO LONG..... And (after about 30 min) realized this when I stopped smelling that minty smell I started out with....

It was pretty much charred now, in the bottom of the pot...

So, I did what anyone else would do... I just added a few drops of "distilled" water until I got a reasonable looking mixture, figuring I'd have as much nicotine as possible, then poured it into a small 10ml bottle, added some Rite-Aid Glycerin and proceeded to drop into a new cart.

The result was a JET BROWN / BLACKISH looking cart... that REEKED LIKE TOBACCO... And I panicked.. I assumed at this point I was most-definitely going to destroy one of my Attys.

But, I caved... popped the nasty looking cart into the atty, fired up my JS and puffed away...

RESULTS: Great Tobacco taste, WAY TO EXPENSIVE to be a good DIY alternative to other methods mentioned here, and ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA HOW MUCH NICOTINE I AM HOPPED UP ON RIGHT NOW!!!!

Anyone want to comment on my stupdity / share theirs? Perhaps this is what some people are looking for.. (probably not, but possible)...

I'm getting really antsy about using some distilled water, a half-cup of finely ground coffee beans inside a filter (tied shut with a twisty), and a nice long slow soak in similar conditions on my stove right now... (Also mentioned in another forum)

But I have to wake up at 5:00 am tomorrow, so that may not be the best idea.

Just curious, did you read any of those diy posts before trying this?

Ha ha.. Sadly, yes... But impatience and money got in the way... As well as a little curiosity
