Then filled my empty pharmacy PG bottle with the TS PG and compared the odor in the 2 pints. The TS was still very strong in comparison. Something between rubbing alcohol and laquer thinner is the best way I can describe it.
Anyway, I have elected not to use it. Maybe I got a bad batch, could be a difference in the packaging... I don't know. Just not worth it too me to try it. A pint ($11.00) lasts me 6 months so the cost isn't really a factor.
I would stay away from veterinary PG, it is made to lower purity standards then anything intended for human use. Vet grade PG is used for Ketosis treatment/prevention in Dairy Cattle. Although the labeling seems odd, why would they say PG, USP then add the moniker "for animal use only" , If it's USP grade, it is NOT for Animal use only?????

Good point. AFAIK it should never say both.

I had no problem purchasing a one-pint bottle from Walgreens ($15). I just walked up to the pharmacist, aked for it, and she handed me a bottle.

Some pharmacies do stock it, especially ones that do a fair amount of compounding. But that is usually the exception rather then the rule. At least you know you have a ready supply nearby.

yeah I opted out. From online pictures even the color is different. I am new to this but I think it is safe to say that not all PG is created equal.
Thank you for your response. Exactly what I wanted.

I would rather not vape some poor quality stuff. Funny coming from a smoker. Now I care about what I inhale..hahahahahaha!!!

I got my PG at a Compounding Pharmacy. I called all around looking for it and got a wide range of answers from it is antifreeze or it is by prescription (Petco) to pointing me to the powerized Polyene glycol for a laxitive. Try a compounding pharmacy and no you do not need a precription. I got a Pint for 19 bucks. That is 480ml of goodness for my vaping lifestyle. I think I am good for a year or two. <wink>

Something has been sent around, PG and VG warnings from FDA...somebody who works in Pharmacy may be able to answer that for sure. If they ask are you going to smoke this you say "WHAT???"
I just bought a bottle at Rite Aid and asked the Pharmacist where it was. He came around from behind the counter and found it for me in the isle and asked if I needed it for a Laxative so I laughed and said no I told him exactly what I was using it for and he said ok but he didn't have a clue as to know if it were Veg based or animal fat based. But he did say that USP means it is 99.5% pure .05% water so glycerin is glycerin no matter what. A pharmacist already posted on this in the past so I am lead to believe that it is true. He did say that it was mainly used as a Laxative and skin treatment. He didn't really care what I was using it for. This was 6fl oz and the store was in Connecticut 11/12/09.

I get my PG from a local farm supply shop that specializes in feed for horses and farm animals and is less than one mile from my house. This PG has no funky odor as mentioned in another post. I would return any product that had an odor...something is wrong there.

1 gallon of U.S.P. PG costs $27.95. Walk in, pay for it, walk out. No problem at all. And the guy behind the counter was really interested in vaping.

You can find VG at a health food store, or order from Amazon.

It's primarily used for skin care in the liquid form that you are buying it in. It can also be used orally as a laxative, however, usually glycerin,USP is used in suppository form as a laxative(go to the Antacid/laxative aisle to see this form.)

    Default Getting PG

Apparently there is an OTC way to obtain PG - its called Miralax. Its going to be listed as polyethylene glycol however, according to my research, propylene glycol is the same. As to rather or not its dangerous or not to consume, again, from my research no. If you look at the composition of e-liquid its going to b part water, part vg, part pg, falvoring, and nicotine - maybe citrus. I'm going to buy some Miralax and combine it with distilled water and a little citric acid and VG, then mix that solution with my dry Polyethylene Glycol. This should give me the right effect. If not, I'll be sure to post.

    Cheers,
    Cola
