You can look at my sig and I use the 510 and 601 pipe as my mains and consider the other 2 as fallbacks. The 510 gets more use than the pipe. I use it mainly in the evenings. Everyone is diff and if you ask 10 people you will get 10 diff answers some the same but for diff reasons. Last I looked myfreedomsmokes had a sale on stuff and may be out! They do replace stock very fast. I doubt they had a sale like that and not having something ready to ship in a day or so. It was a great one I missed it too.....

exo: What strength nic works the best for texture and sheen on the hair?
Or is it a mg/temp thing? Would a bald person OD?

http: It would seem to be that 21mg doesnt make it in 100%. From all thats in this thread, that would indicate that your blood nic levels were low on that amount causing you to still have cravings. Seems all here that successfully just dont need the analogs are vaping about 2.5x the amount we smoked. DVap proved an almost 50% loss just from passing the atomizer. Appearently to a form or compound that isnt helping the craving. Seriously reading the whole thread , if you havent, is a world of information and not all questions answered, but a darn good start on why we do and need what we do.
I tried vaping my "normal level" and it just wasnt getting it. I ended up at just about 2.5 times more. Slower adsorption, particle size diff, losses.......many things.
For a quick unsubstaniated answer, my $ says there's probably 20-25% nic left on the patch leaving your body craving what it is use to.

    Here's the problem:

Cryogenic trapping of vapor seems to work well, but it requires quite a bit of setup time and specialized lab equipment that I'd rather not have to fool with. I've got to find an alternative.

    Here's the solution:

    e-cig with an automatic battery
    50 mL plastic syringe
500 mL plastic bottle with cap
    Distilled water

Attach the e-cig to the syringe with a leaktight seal. Pull the syringe plunger out to the 50 mL mark to effect a 50 mL controlled vape. Quickly remove the e-cig from the syringe and inject the vapor into the 500 mL plastic bottle to which 50 mL of distilled water has been added (squeeze the bottle to create a suction to pull the vapor into the bottle. Quickly cap the bottle and shake until the vapor has been taken up by the water. Repeat as necessary to capture a measurable concentration of nicotine.

I figure that a 50 mL vape will consume around 5 uL (micoliters) of liquid, so the cycle would have to be repeated 50 times to vape 0.25 mL of liquid. This will probably takes as much time as cryotrapping, but will not require the equipment and lab facilities.

If the vaping liquid is a concentrated 150 mg/mL, then 0.25 mL will contain up to 37.5 mg of nicotine, more likely less than 20 mg given the so far observed loss of nicotine from vaping.

Anybody have any thoughts or insights on why this might not work as intended?

Actually patches are designed to deliver the stated amount over (I think) a 24 hour period. You might be surprised to learn that a 21 mg patch actually contains over 100 mg of nicotine, but with the membrane, the equilibrium leaves most of it in the patch.

So with patches, the top strength 21 mg patch should balance nicotine for a pack a day full flavor smoker. Smoke more than a pack a day of full flavor? The 21 mg patch starts to fall behind.

The intention of a patch isn't to replace nicotine long term, it's intended to give you some nicotine while you step down to lower level patches on the way to quitting nicotine entirely.

When I was smoking, I took in about 10 mg of nicotine/day. 14 mg patches more than worked for me for the physical replacement of nicotine, but for the rest of the smoking experience, they did nothing.

    DVap,

I am surprized, and not. His symptoms seem typical of low blood nic levels. Also, most here learned about all the other things associated as smokers we miss as an imbedded routine or ritual.
I gave the FDA & patches a better efficiency "guesstimate" than they are. I'm not surprized though. I haven't tried the patches for 10 yrs after failing so badly with them time after time.....sounds like a song. lol 100% tranference just didn't seem possible.
At that rate vaping is 25% more efficient in delivery. Ok, that possibly leaves 75mg on the patch. Hmmmm...wear it, extract the nic, swirl with base vape of choice and we have green vaping ! Recycled patches and less nic liquid bought.
Why do I feel like I'm on " Are You Smarter Than a 5th grader" ?

    Default Nicotine Content and Cutting

I know there may be a better spot for this but thought it fit well within a nic content question. With a chemist I thought I'd get a straight answer

Unless I've completely misunderstood everything I have read and experienced in the last three months then the mg listed for "juices" is per mL. If that is accurate I am a llitle confused about "cutting " for lower mg of Nicotine.

If there is for example 24mg of nicotine in 1 mL of liquid and I mix:

    1mL of 24mg Juice
    1mL of additional VG/PG
    .5 mL of flavor

How then am I possibly "cutting" the nicotine content as so many users/recipes suggest by mixing. Doesn't 1mL = 24mg regardless? If I vape this entire mix haven't I vaped and entire 24mg of Nic? (minus absorption questions of course).

Vaporer, didn't realize you'd commented on the picture linked in the post a couple above yours,
shall I re-instate it ?, cos people are looking at you strangely

Dan, you're 'cutting' the strength, not the total amount of nicotine.

Patches were the only thing that ever caused me to stop smoking
(apart from vaping obviously, at least for 2 months at the beginning)
completely forgot about it, unfortunately brought me up in big red weepy itchyyyy square welts.
Perhaps Kinabaloo has got something after all, autovaping nicotine by some unintrusive mechanism.

DVap, how do you reckon 5μl juice per 50 or 100ml vape ?,
I read 1.2 mg (μl) per vape around here somewhere,
then again don't know how that was determined either.
It would be interesting to know how much juice volume per puff it is 'on average'.

Wouldn't it be easier with a 'continuous collection' set-up,
so you don't get wrist-ache from all that shaking?
(e.g. a vigorously stirred liquid in a collection trap).
Still, I guess that's the whole point of experimenting, to find out...

I half pulled the 5 uL out of my ...., and half estimated it based on 5 second vapes. I'm on my way toward work in a few to drop some stuff off there, so maybe I'll weigh an e-cig, go outside and vape it a couple dozen times and reweigh it on a balance with 5 place (10 ug) resolution.

    exo,

Absolute not! If anyone looks at me normally that scares me.

    Dan,

If you have 1ml of 24mg and mix it with 1ml PG you now have 2ml with a concentration of 12mg. You havent lost any nicotine. But it will take you 2x as long to vape it to get the full 24mg. So people that require less nic can buy a stronger nic content for the same price and "cut it" to get 2x the amount of vaping liquid for the same price.
People wanting to ween their way off cut it for the same reason. They can vape 24mg, cut it say to 18mg , still vape at the same rate and have more liquid. Just less nic in each vape session. Next they can do the 50/50 cut for a 12mg liquid and still vaping the same duration times/frequency and have 2x as much liquid for the same price and only inhale 12mg per ml, less in each inhalation.

    Does that help the reasoning?
