Is the humco glycerin the same as vegetable glycerin?? I've read that it could be made of animal products? Does anyone know for sure? If so where do I find pure VG- not on line in a store somewhere???

Evening hadenough. I've been happy using this:
NOW Foods - Vegetable Glycerine - 4 fl oz
I got it at a health food store in town, Life Source.

According to the store locator on the NOW website there are several stores in Vegas that carry the stuff.

This has been discussed quite a few times on the forum. According to a member of ECF who is also a pharmacist, he has stated that Humco is the leading manufacturer of Glycerin, and it is vegetable based. You can read his post here:

If it says USP, I would consider it safe to use. As for where you can find VG at local stores, try your local health stores.

It's my feeble understanding that Humco brand is a "synthetic" glycerol,
but have not an idea how/what it's made from. If the label doesn't say 99.8% pure USP vegetable glycerin, it could also be made from animal fats. Some people have problems with VG, it may have something to do with the questionable ingredients. Pure VG is made through a very complex process, can be "aqueous" as in ECOpure VG, meaning that it has not distilled all the excess moisture away, or distilled VG, little thicker and sweeter. The only way you'd know is to see it side by side.
Hope this helps answer your question. Any drugstore or even Walmart will have pure VG, may have to ask for it, even some grocers have it in the baking section.

I use it and it is fine and they say it is vegtable. walmart has it.

Price-wise I haven't really done any shopping around. For that matter I don't even remember what I paid for the bottle I have. Suffice to say it's supposed to be pure veggie, no animal or petroleum.

That will work. It's USP Glycerin. I can not tell you if it is vegetable based or not. It's labeled a lot like the HUMCO brand Glycerin USP.
