Never tried it, don't know what it tastes like. Absinthe was Oscar Wilde's beverage of choice.

Currently, most countries have no legal definition of absinthe. . . Manufacturers can label a product “absinthe” or “absinth” without regard to any legal definition or minimum standard.

I don't mean to put down your drink. I just can't stand licorice so anything remotely like it... well, that's all I taste and smell (and it lingers). When I had absinthe, that's all I could taste. The drink itself, it's history and it's whole ritual has always intrigued me since seeing Toulouse Lautrec's paintings though. And the color can be really cool sometimes

Dunno how you feel about whiskey, but a drop or two of Jameson along with other flavors gives a nice aftertaste and aroma in the back of your nasal passages to your vapor. No sugars to worry about there.

How can you not trust green, my favorite plant of all time is green, that's the only kind for me, guess what it is? 3 guesses and the first two don't count. lol!

How would Pastis compare to absinthe? That is very anise in flavour.
