I've noticed a lot of you are having trouble obtaining PG. For those of us who don't live near a tractor supply store or a feed warehouse, there's a ready supply at the pharmacy. The problem usually lies in convincing the pharmacist that you're not going to use it to cook up some drugs. I made my rounds to all the pharmacies in the area, and here's what I discovered: Tell them it's for a fog machine, and they'll give it to you. I tried K-Mart, 2 Wal-marts, 2 CVS, Rite Aid, and 2 mom-and-pop pharmacies. Every single one of them asked me what I needed the PG for. At one of the Wal-marts and one of the CVS stores explained what I was actually using it for and they refused to sell it to me without a prescription. At all of the other stores, I told them it was for a fog machine. I explained that it was cheaper per-gallon to mix my own fog juice than buy it retail. I also told them I add a higher ratio of PG to water to produce thicker fog. When they asked me what the fog machine was for, I told them it was for a stage production at one of the local theatres. Every one of them told me they didn't have it in-stock, but they'd gladly order as many pints as I want for pickup the next day. I declined at all but one store, K-Mart, because they were the closest to my house and had the second lowest price. $9.09 for a pint - Wal-mart was the lowest at $8.78 for a pint. Hope this helps you guys and girls who are getting brickwalled at your local pharmacy. |

I think you guys are just getting too complicated. I asked for it at my pharmacy. They told me they couldn't sell me the stuff they had. I asked if they could order a bottle for me, they said sure. Picked it up. Nobody asked what I needed it for or anything. Perhaps you look too suspicious? Maybe it helped because I was in a suit after getting out of an interview? There's my tip: don't LOOK like someone who is going to go make drugs with it. |

I was wearing a herringbone vest over a white oxford shirt with pleated khakis and shined up wingtip shoes. I doubt I looked suspicious to them, It's odd that they didn't ask what you needed it for. Maybe it varies from state to state. |

It's perfectly legal. The answer to the question, "Can you sell me some USP PG", should be "How much do you need, and can you wait a day or two?" An alternate acceptable answer is, "Why?", people are curious after all. Whatever reason you give for "Why?", the next question should be, "How much do you need, and can you wait a day or two?" As has been previously suggested, the recommended answer to "Why?", should be, "We're having a little party, and KY is crazy expensive by the gallon".

I'm not debating PG's legality. I'm simply offering advice for those who get denied for no reason other than ignorance.

Tell them your wife sent you to pick it up and you believe its for cosmetic purposes of one sort or another. The only pharmacy in my area that even offered to get it for me was a "compounding" pharmacy. $9.00 and some change for a pint, had it the next day. Steve |

Tell them you mix your own hand lotion, that you seem to be allergic to most of the commercial stuff. Most pharmicists should already be aware of the anti-bacterial properties of PG, and if not, you could mention it to them.

I mix up my own Vitamin C serum and that is why it was an ingredient I already had. It is involved in a lot of DIY skincare. I think I may have gotten my first bottle from lotioncrafter.com. Might be able to get double duty out of your PG by making some of your own DIY skincare! |

When I went to walmart and told them what it was for they refused to sell it Couple days later, different pharmacist, told him making lotion, voila! Next day picked up![]() Why won't they just sell it without the questions? Is it used to make something illegal?![]() RIMP
