Default Help with capellas!

Ok so i just got my capellas order in, ive tryed 4 flavors on my 510 so far and every one has been disapointing, little to no real flavor, and a bad.. throat burn? (not like a throat hit, like a dry atty kida). ive tryed at 20%, 40% and 50% flavor so far. Before i fill a 808 cart to see if there is a diffrence how do you mix your capellas? If anybody has tryed a flavor ive got id appreciate the %'s you use for it so i can see what im doing wrong! Thanks!
Ive got:
  1. Double Choc
  2. Caramel
  3. Choc Rasberry
  4. Grandmas apple pie
  5. Cinnamon Danish Swirl
  6. French Toast
  7. Chocolate Fudge Brownie
  8. Italian Egg Nog
  9. Graham Cracker

I have egg nog, coffee, orange cream, & pumpkin spice. I made a 1 ml test batch of each using 10% flavor which ends up being 4 drops and I haven't had any issues with that. I use mostly PG with maybe 2 or 3 drops of VG.

I only have 1 of the same flavors you do, the choc raspberry.

The others I have are vanilla custard, klua and cream and cool mint.

I think capellas are easier to work with to get a good result than loranns etc as they are much more forgiving.

As they are PG based you can vape them straight, the vapor is a bit low so I cut mine with VG when mixing (along with nic juice that is pG based)

When I am in need of a quick flavor fix I will vape the vanilla custard straight (2 drops)

Otherwise I never have needed more than 50%, usually 25%. This will vary depending on the atty as all are not created equally.

I find the older mine get the stronger the flavor is, accompanied by a harder draw and a hotter atty. With a new atty that has a really light draw I find I need to use a really light and slow draw to get the most flavor from a vape, and if I hit it too hard/fast the flavor is much lower.

Is your atty new or old? If new you may have some nasty primer messing with the flavors, also if old it may be gunked up or have some other flavor tainting it.

You could try mixing some pg and vg 50/50 and vaping that till you just have a clean vape w/o any flavor, then retry the capellas.

Hope this helps, Capellas are great! (at least the ones I tried)

I use a 510, and stock bat and protoge (if this matters)

Dale, try 2 drops of the Double Chocolate per ML of juice. I have no nicotine juice of PG/VG 50-50.

defiantly wierd, everything i read on capelas said very weak, you need 40-60% flavor to taste it, and when i did that it was just burnt. Your replys say 10-25%, so i went with 10% and got very little flavor but no burnt, so i went 15% no burning - i did get a hint at 20% though. Gonna load my KR with 15% of um... Chocolate Rasbury i think and see how it works. the KR is so much better then the 510 for flavor lets see!

I have lots of Capellas. I haven't used them all yet, but so far most work well at about 10%. I like the single flavor for the vanilla custard but most of the others seem to round out better with something like 9% main flavor and 1% complementary flavor.

I use the drop method of adding flavors and I work in 6ml batches, so I might mix up a base of 5.4 ml of whatever my desired nicotine level is and then add 9 drops of banana and one drop of root beer float. This is a little under 10%. I mix and test. If it needs more, I add a drop or two more and test again. I keep this up until I find a pleasing level. I make note of the final percentages of flavorings so I can reproduce it.

Granted this creation technique allows the nicotine level to change and it doesn't result in steps that are 100% accurate as far as percentages go, but it does give me a good ballpark recipe.

The next time I make a batch I know what percentages the flavorings should be so I mix up the other ingredients to give me my desired nicotine level with the addition of the flavoring. If I find that it needs adjustment, I alter my recipe a bit. If it is perfect then I put a star by the recipe and smile broadly!

I have learned from experience that it is always better to err on the side of too little favoring rather than too much! I couldn't vape anything with raspberry in it for days after one such adventure.

Be sure to take good notes!

Sage advice, Guineahill. Especially the part about taking notes.

Dale-I have alot of the same flavors that you have. I have not had this problem. Some flavors are a little weak so I have to up the percentage. I get a very mellow throat hit if any with my DIY from capella's.

What is the nic percentage you are trying to achieve?
  1. Double Choc -10-12%
  2. Caramel -N/A
  3. Choc Rasberry N/A
  4. Grandmas apple pie -N/A
  5. Cinnamon Danish Swirl -N/A
  6. French Toast -15%
  7. Chocolate Fudge Brownie-10-15%
  8. Italian Egg Nog N/A
  9. Graham Cracker-15-20%
I think this is close to the percentages I used to make 18mg. I kept adding until I got some flavor.

I'll put a good word in for Capella's flavor drops because compared to Lorann's, Capella's seem more true to the real flavor. Lorann's was too strong, and I couldn't mellow it out by using less. The juices were almost metalic IMO. So maybe there's simply some of that personal preference working here. I like a very strong Pear taste, as in Nhaler's Pear Lung juice, but don't like strong cinnamon or apple.

I mix about 4ml of VG with about 10 drops of any Capella's flavor and about 8 drops of Everclear or Vodka or distilled water. My favorite Capella's flavor so far is Pralines and Cream, with Graham Crackers a close second. French Toast is just like a strong Mrs. Buttersworth syrup, very true to the real thing. I hear they're coming out with Crumb cake...sounds good. I'm wanting them to get a Honey, and I need to try their Caramel. For not being a sweets person, I'm sure enjoying these sweet things.

Enough said....mixing is a real art and no one accuses me of being very good at it.
