I can answer the food color question, because I've vaped pure food color (it's just propylene glycol and color). I wanted to snort out red vapor. I wanted to blow green "smoke" at environmentalists. It just didn't work well. Not much color in the vapor, but it colored everything it touched: The cig cart, atomizer and my mouth and teeth. No harm, but mission not accomplished. I gave the idea to E-Cig a year ago and they didn't get it to work either.

P.S. I did it again (and I've done it many times before). I answered a post at the bottom of page one without even noticing there was a page two. And Kate had responded. Sorry for answering twice.

    Danny,

First, I'd be very careful with "peppermint oil" and start in very small doses (1drop per 10ml) since there's been some speculation that oil + atomizer = dead atomizer. I've done some experiments with clove oil, and no dead atomizer (YET). I'll keep my fingers crossed. If you want the minty/menthol taste it might be safer to use menthol crystals. Lorann's "creme de menthe" is really good an is more menthol-like than some of the other mints IMO.

Second, I've been vaping 99.5% USP glycerin "skin protectant" for over a month, no bad side effects, and it's cheap easily available at my local Wally-World, beats paying twice as much for half the amount at the craft store.

Well that's a shame. I too was thinking it would be great to exhale plumes of green vapour on paddy's day.

I got that Walmart stuff at first and I called the 800 number and was told there is no guarantee that it's vegetable glycerin as sometimes their source is synthetic glycerin. I don't know if that makes a difference or not but the synthetic stuff kinda scared me. I went to Hobby Lobby (no Michael's here) and picked up some vegetable glycerin from the cake/candy aisle and I'm using that instead.

Yes--why risk it--if it does not say right on the bottle 100% vegetable glycerin pure Food Grade USP I would not use it. You can get it in most health food stores. I notice the one you bought is 99.5% so what is the other .5%?? I do not know and do not what to know when I can get a 16 oz bottle for $8.95. The one I use is made by Now available at many health food stores and says right on the bottle safe for topical and INTERNAL USE!!! you can see it at nowfoods.com

gah! You guys are freaking me out! I already started using it! I'm definitely going to stop now and make sure that I buy some 100% Vegetable glycerin. Thanks for the info. I definitely don't want to do anything that could be dangerous.

Glade to hear it. As I said very easy to find Pure VG--we all just never had a need for it before so we had no info about where to get it--that is why this forum is a must for all of us!!

I didn't think it was technically possible to get a 100% pure substance. 99.9% pure is as good as it gets?

I use 99.5% BP glycerine and am happy that it's good stuff.

Well, I couldn't find 100% vegetable glycerin anywhere local. I did visit a Pilot a few miles away and they had njoy kits and refill cartridges. I bought a package of the cartridges and they were too big for my e-cig (I have the health mini e-pack thing from DealXtreme). I didn't really expect them to fit but it was worth a shot. What I did was just emptied a cartridge for my e-cig and put the filter-thing from one of the njoy carts into it. Works just fine and tastes a heck of a lot better. It's a lot more smooth too. The cartridges were a little pricy though - $19.99 per pack of 10.

Yea, that's pretty high, if you are going to refill just order the liquid from a supplier near you and I'll promise it'll be cheaper than buying carts for something else and taking the liquid out. (or buying filled carts for your device for that matter).
