Getting awesome vapor but little flavor
The ratio I've come up with is producing amazing vapor. Much better than Tasty Vapor juices. However, I'm struggling to get enough flavor.
Right now, I'm testing with a 510 atomizer on a Chuck with an 18650 3000mah battery.
This is what I've come up with so far:
- 4ml PG
- 2ml VG
- 70 drops of Perfumer's Apprentice caramel flavor
Awesome vapor, thick clouds that linger, but very, very little caramel flavor. How much flavoring does it take to get a really tasty vapor? Also, any idea on PG/VG ratio? I'm not sure what the base of the flavoring is, so I'm not quite sure what the actual ratio is.

I used 20% to get good flavor in a 70% VG 30% PG base, looks like you are over 50% flavoring with that recipe, so something is not right. I believe the flavor base is PG.

A non-referenced "drop" makes it tough.
At 30 d/ml you are at 28% flavor, but at 20 d/ml you are nearly 37%. If it is 40 d/ml then you are at a better range of 22.5%.
It is possible that you have too much flavor in it. As odd as it sounds too much flavor can result in no flavor.
If I didn't hit the wrong buttons on my TI-85, those are my figures for your mix.

I'm sure you've read my tapes and watched my DIY mixing blog.

Thanks Hoosier, my math was off, I figured 30d/ml. don't know how I got 50%. I've heard that if you add too much flavor it will kill the flavor also. One of my first mixes was with flavourart black cherry, I tried vaping it as soon as I mixed it, couldn't taste anything and kept adding flavor to like 20%, stilll a weak taste. The next day I tried it again and the flavor was so strong it made my hair stand on end
. Now I always give the mix at least 12 hours to homogenize before vaping and coming to any conclusions.

Thanks grayd! I'm planning on mixing with TPA's black cherry this weekend and your reference point is perfect. Was thinking 10% before, but thinking 14% now.
Although a black cherry that would make my hair stand on end does have a certain appeal...

I'm going to do the TPA Black Cherry as well, maybe with Capella Double Chocolate and some TPA Bavarian Cream. What are your plans for it????

why dont you guys use a pipet or graduated cylinder to measure the volume of liquid instead of counting drops. i have a science store right by my house, a pack of 25 pipet (3ml dropper) cost $2.75 and a 10ml graduated cylinder cost $3.25. also bought a flask beaker $5.50 for easy mixing. i remember using those things at school.

Yes, I use a 3ML syringe with a blunt tip, it's the most accurate method I've found.

Drops indeed are out of the question

Glad it's not just me! I couldn't get the pipettes to do anything close to accurate in small quantities. I have 1 syringe that's getting worn out but more on order.
