Whoaaaa!
I was so busy doing the Hokey Pokey I missed this!
Do you mean I can buy the KB switch and make my 801 a manual? I take it I have to have a KB battery too (and the charger... this is starting to sound expensive, akkk) and then use my 801 attys? Wahhhh??? Am I missing something? I hope that's how it works... neato.
Could I use just a switch and 801 atomizer on an automatic 801 passthrough? I hate the new manual passthroughs. They don't work!!
This is making my brain hurt... lol Thanks for any help in getting this one.

I can answer the second part about the 801 automatic pass-through, because I'm using one as I type. You don't need any switch to connect your automatic 801 atty. to an 801 pass-through. You can buy an automatic 801 battery that comes with a USB cord attached to the end where you would normally screw in your battery, and an atty. connection on the other end. Mine has a 4-feet long cord, with a USB plug on one end, and a battery on the other end, with the (female) screw-end (no jokes, please). I plug that into my PC, and screw an plain ole' atomizer into it whenever I sit down at my P.C.. It's like having a fresh battery with every vape/puff.
I was going to say to screw any 801 atomizer into it, but I have one atty. that works with my batteries, but not with the USB pass-through. I've read that from others, too ... that if you find an atty. that works with your USB connection, save it to use with your USB connection (I have no idea why that is). Some people say they work with laptops too, but I guess it depends on the power, and what else you have plugged into it. I haven't had the need to use it with my laptop yet, so I can't attest to that.
Let me know if you want me to look up where I got it. It's great - especially if you spend any amount of time sitting in front of a 'puter screen.

USB Passthrough
I have two PT's for 801, though one doesn't work, and one accidentally got closed in my car door, so is bent, but still works. I recently bought a Ford Escape, which has a built in USB port for the SYNC music option (plays music from a thumb drive). I plug my pass through in to that in my car, and away I go. I LOVE that
It's an automatic, which I kind of like. I have a 510 manual, and it just doesn't seem to work as well, though it could be the difference in models more than the manual switch.

Power pack recommendation (for use with USB passthrough)
I got the APC Mobile Power Pack that Palmetto posted about on the previous page ... that's definitely the way to go! Thank you again for the recommendation. There wasn't time to get it before I left on my trip, but I ordered it, and had it shipped to my destination, so I had it for the drive home.
I highly recommend it to anyone. It lasts me all day long, and still has charge left (I must be a lightweight vaper-er). You just plug the USB pass-through into the end of it and vape away. It didn't bother me to have to push the button to turn it back on if I hadn't picked it up for a while. I was surprised at how small and lightweight it was: 2-1/2" w. x just under 4" h. x 1/2" thick. They're selling for $34.99 on Ebay, and that includes the shipping charge.
Now, if I can just get totally off of the analogs again ... that I smoked here and there while I was out of town with my smoking friends. Arrgghhh. The good news is that when I checked into a non-smoking hotel room on the way home, ALL of my luggage and clothes REEKED of cig-smoke to me. I came home and brought in a bag at a time, sprayed everything down, and washed even my clean clothes. I will not smoke any analogs in my house anymore, so I don't think that it'll take long. It just confirmed to me how little the PV/e-cig smells, and it's nice to know that neither I, nor my house, smells like that anymore.

Trog,
Actually, the USB standard states that the device should limit its current draw to 500mA. It does not say that the port can only deliver 500mA. Most computer HW has a single current limiter for a group of 4 or 8 ports. That's 2A for a 4 port limiter, or 4A for an 8 port limiter. If you have nothing on the other ports, than you can easily draw 1A out of a single port.
The USB-A connector itself is rated for 1.5A...continuously. But you work a low duty cycle while vaping....so...it'll hold...untill it melts
