Default throat hit?

I've been using an RN4072 and just bought an 801 attomizer and battery to try them out as I heard there were a few difference. The 801 had an easier draw than the 4072 but NO throat hit. I mean zero. Is this normal? I was using PG juice from eliquidplanet at the time and the battery was fully charged.

Penstyle atomizers generally do not give particularly good throat hit with a typical screw-in battery. They do produce very good throat hit if run at higher voltages (5v+).

Yeah but my 4072 has a pretty decent throat hit. Odd since they're basically the same thing.

So how do I modify my 801 to run at 5v?

Go to the mod section of the forum. Many examples of homemade mods. Or go to Puresmoker and buy the one they sell. You will need batteries that provide 5 volts of power and about 700+ mAh.

I do notice that all my 801's do not produce good TH. Too easy of a draw but as Flob said at 5V they do.

I disagree I think the 801 gives a great throat hit. I had retired my 801 when I got the 510 because I thought it would give a better throat hit. When I was using the 801 I was using 16 and 18 mg now I use 24mg because I wasnt getting a good throat hit I think it has to do with the mg of the liquid. I was having some trouble getting a throat hit from my 510 so I pulled out my 801 filled the cart with 24 mg and Wow!!!!! It almost choked me.So I use both, my 801 has come out of retirement for good Im thinking about ordering some more 801 batteries and attys again. For reliability however the 510 is better

Does anybody know what different 801 (pen style) atomizers are available?

I currently know about the

DSE801
RN4071
BE112

Are there any others I am missing. It would be great if someone did a mini review of them and told the difference in performance for each model.

Sorry to get off topic

My old trusty 801 has great flavor but it came with auto battery and I have to suck hard enough to cave in my skull to get any throat hit. Since I don't use it that often, I never got around to trying manual batteries for it. It does much better on a PT, though.

The Janty JKBC-304

I got a DSE201 in trade. It appears to be a penstyle atty, but does not work with many devices. This atty has a very wide bridge.

Mikie, add the Joye 302. Seems to be compatible with all the DSE and RN battery types. I'm using it on my PS passthrogh. Awesome vapor, good throat hit, nice draw, low bridge. I don't understand why suppliers don't carry these.
