did the q-tip I may have to send it back to TW and see about getting a replacement... =( it'll be difficult without it for the weekend so I'm hoping that maybe it just needs to be cleaned

Mine was doing the same thing. I fixed it and so far so good.
I removed the two screws and opened it. I found that the center contact was pushed down so it was barely making contact with the battery.
If you open the case look at the post that has the red wire soldered to it. It is glued in place. On mine the glue separated and the battery was slowly pushing it down. I pushed it back up and put an old cart cut to size in the space to hold it in place. I will post a pic. It is hard to explain.

The first pic you can see I tried hot glue but it was hot enough to melt the solder so I had to resolder it and it slipped back down again anyways.
The second pic shows the cut cart working as a pedestal to keep it in place.

There is another post around these forums somewhere about resetting your PCC...basically you remove the battery from your PCC, plug charger into the PCC, insert battery into the PCC, then unplug the charger. Not sure exactly why that is supposed to work, but I know the directions are right...I made a mental note for myself if I have anymore problems with mine. =)

I had the same problem with mine but I managed to get it working again by THOROUGHLY cleaning the PCC case and the battery with a q-tip to get rid of any liquid deposit buildup, worked like a charm for me.

unfortunately the problem i have having with my new PCC is that the battery (manual) wont stay down , it's modified to fit a manual battery from the supplier but ever time i plug one in , it slowly creeps back up away from the contacts...

What supplier did you get it from. I want one all ready modified so I dont have to do it?

Grimm that is what mine was doing.
The contacts are spring loaded. The outside one would push the battery up and the center one was not long enough to make good contact anymore. Shaking and tapping it would get it to work sometimes.
The part to push back up is the little post with the red wire soldered on it not the larger part that is pressed onto the plastic.

i find that the PCC hinged lid eventually wont close down enough to be ablke to push the battery far enough in to reach the connector.
i cut a small square of sticky backed sponge and placed that on the inside of the lid and it sorted the problem out.

also, make sure the connection is clean. use a cotton bud to reach to the bottom and clean any gunk out.

cheers,

scott

I had the same problem with my PCC. A little shake and the battery was moving. Glued two small square layers of craft foam inside the top of the lid to push a little on the battery and have not had any issues in over two weeks.

ETA:Scott beat me to it...
