Give it a go with one of the used cartos. I've not had one that didn't work after cleaning with this method. It sounds like you have the general idea.

Over the years lots of methods.solutions, machines etc. have been tried in an effort to clean and preserve attys.None of them have ever been proven to work.Save yourselves a lot of time and effort. Replace them when they go bad or get a rebuildable attomizer.
Unless you like fiddling around with that sort of thing.

Cleaning is just prolonging the agony. If your attys are dying after only a few weeks, try vaping clean liquids - Menthol is always a good one for keeping the atty in good shape. Remember, the atty has two tiny electrical contacts, and any boiling/water or other messing around will degrade these contacts. If you do bring your atty back to life it usually won't last that long anyway. Just replace them. Or switch to 901s - those attys just refuse to lie down

this works really well, I had a menthol liquid I didn't end up liking on a new atty and this totally removed the smell. When I used the cleaned atty with a new liquid, taadaa, no more menthol taste!!

Sorry i would like to add that after I cleaned the atty and blew it out, I let it sih t for 48 hours before attempting to use it. And I also put a few drops of new liquid on the atty to get it primed.
