Default Vivi Nova v2 replacement heads. When to replace them. (Having issues with recent new head)

Hey all, looking for a little advice.

I've been using the Vivi Nova v2 for about 3 weeks. In the process of the 3 weeks, I changed out the juice flavors many times, but always taking it apart to wash it before doing so. Everything was working fine until today. I wanted to try a new head to see if I could tell a difference in taste. (Been using the 1.8ohm heads on my Kgo) So i took it apart, cleaned it up, and poped on a new head. Filled it back up, let the wicks absorb the juice a little, and tried it out. I noticed a burnt taste like I was just vaping with no juice, and just tasting the coils inside the head itself. I drew on it few more times, and it started to produce vapor like it should. But the burnt taste still remained. I countined to vape it on and off for few hours. Sometimes the burnt taste would be stronger, and sometimes it would be weak, but it was always there. I decided to try another head, but this time a 2.5ohm one with the same kgo (thats the only battery I have). I seemed to taste a burnt taste with this as well, but this could very well be my taste buds messing with me since the taste was still lingering in my mouth. the draw was to weak to produce a good vapor as i figured it would be, but I wanted to try it anyways. Regardless, I swapped back to my old 1.8 head from there. Same thing. Burnt taste. Again, it may have been my taste buds just messed up from the new head. I then went BACK to the new 1.8ohm head, and tried it again. Same results still. Burnt.. I then took it apart once again, but this time cleaning the crap out of everything. Srubbing down the take itself, the base, everything. Put it back together, and decided to take an air draw from it. First I took a draw just from the base itself with no head on it, and the taste was gone. Put the head on, and the taste was VERY strong just from drawing air from it. So there I absolutely new it was the head.

In light of all this, I then again took it apart ONCE MORE, and this time soaking it in water for 5-6 hours. Heads and all. I just took everything out of the water, and now letting everything air dry. I have not tried it again, but in all honesty I dont have high hopes.

I have not changed anything execpt for the head itself. I dont understand why a brand new head would produce such a bad taste, and contiune to linger. I've tried messing with the silicon top cover moving it up and down to make sure juice is being feed, and still no luck.

SO! My main questions are. How often do you actually need to replace these heads, and what are signs that you need to do so. And judging by the above info I've given you what would be causing this issue? Why such a bad taste, and now seems stick around. Bad head? Sometimes wrong, thats for sure.

Alright, thats it. Thank you for anyone who posts because any info on this would be much appericated.

I haven't experienced this with the Vivi Nova, but, burnt taste = not enough juice in the wick inside/around the coils of the head. But, I tilt my PV and rotate it to ensure plenty of juice is in the head before I vape. I suspect that the head that is constantly giving you a burnt taste is in fact burnt, and you will never get a good taste out of it.

A wire could be burning the seal at the battery connection, they were having a problem with that before, don't know if they fixed it.

I have just gone through something a bit like this.
Got my new vivi nova a week back, cleaned it every other day as I have been playing around with juices.
Anyway today's morning clean went a bit wrong and I ended up pulling the wicks off the head.
No problem I though I have a load of spear heads with wicks and 2 which came free with the Vivi.
So I changed the head with the 2.8 ohm one from the box

All day it's been tasting really bad, a plastic kind of taste, gives a sore throat hit every vape, and just tastes really bad.
I have tried every voltage on my Lava Tube but it's stil the same

I've now got so pi**ed off with it I washed out the tank again and have thrown away the head I out on this morning.
I have some more replacement ones at my office stil in the sealed package so I will try one of them tomorrow.

I've got 5 Vivi Nova tanks myself (3 standard, 2 mini) that I purchased 3 months ago that are doing this same thing (burnt taste). I decided to ziplock them and put them in the cabinet until I can fix the wicking issue. I also realized that some of the issues are dependant on the juice mixture, full PG based being the best as it's thinner and can wick faster.

i've never let a head sit longer than 10 min to let dry. every 2-3 tankfuls, i tear it down, rinse everything off, wash off the atty and wick without messing around with it as much as possible, squeeze it in a paper towel to get as much water out of the wick as i can, screw the base back on, screw the atty back in, and dry burn it til the coils are clean and glowing. put the silicone cap back on top of the atty, put the tank back on, fill it up, cap it, and let it sit 3-4 min for the wick to get re-saturated with juice, then vape my face off.. just changed an atty yesterday, it lasted almost a month of allday, everyday vaping, and i cant complain a bit about a $2.39 atty lasting a month.

depending on the juice you guys are using, if you're getting dry hits, try trimming the wick up a little. i use 100%vg, and was having dry hit problems when i first got it. trimmed the wicks down to about 1/2" and all was well.

this new atty i just put on has one side of the wick about 1/2 as long as original, i only cut one side. havent had a dry hit yet.

and ryan, for what its worth, i dont think soaking a head in water will accomplish anything, attys get hot enough, if theres something in the juice thats getting burnt to the atty it'd probably take a scrubbing to get it off. and as fragile as the wire and wick are, probably destroy it in the process of tryin to clean it. dry burning the crap off of it is probably about the only real way to clean these, i've read lots of posts about people being afraid to dry burn, but my last one lasted a month of doing it almost everyday.

I've been using a single 2.7 ohm mini vivi nova head on my ego twist for over 3 months now. When i first got it I trimmed the wick so its about 3 mm above the lower grip base. I carefully rub my fingers on the wick to get it spread out a bit.

I usually clean it once a week when i notice the liquid turning orange instead of the usual clear liquid with a yellow tint. I use DK-TAB and menthol which i believe is 70 pg 30 vg if not closer to 100 pg. After a while i got a burned taste also. I then removed the plastic insulator which is beneath and next to the coil with a pair of tweezers.

I only clean it with warm water. then dry it with toilet paper and then dry burn it carefully only letting the coil glow red hot for a second or 2 before i heat it again. I notice the dried up juice turning grey on the coil and then carefully pick it off by rolling up some toilet paper into a pick and carefully scrubbing off the ashes. I blow the ashes off and reassamble. The first 5 draws or something are not wicked properly because of the remaining water. but after that it wicks perfectly again and i get that clean flavour when i first used it. I don't remember getting any dry hits at all not unlike my vision.

Oh what i read on this forum though is to remember to put the plastic cap on the way it should. The metal piece has a flat side and a funnel side. the flat side should go down and looking from above into the atty you should see a funnel. People mention that when they put it on the wrong way they get a burned taste.

I will clean them out with hot water, dab the wicks, dry burn it until coils glow. Then I blow it out and rinse again under hot water. Then I'll fire it a couple times to dry the water out just real quick, fill it up and vape. If you are using dark juices it tends to clog it up/diminish taste/vapor quicker than if you are using clearer liquids.

I clean mine every tank if using darker juices, every other if I'm vaping something light/clear. I replace when flavor diminishes noticeably or when the wicks start to come apart.

I had similar issues myself, opened a ticket with them about it, the end result basically like some people mentioned, it's the juice primarily, I use 100% VG and well it looks like the Vivi nova won't be a good fit for me. They recommended trying different ratio's with distilled water. I may try that I may not, simply because it's more work then I care to put into this mod at this point.

That also being said I did order some new heads, as well as the thicker wicking material from a different vendor, I'm going to try a thicker wick on the 2.4ohm head, as the 2.8ohm head seemed to wick properly, I just don't like the resistance that high. Once it comes in and if it lasts more then a couple days I'll let you know.
