Default SP2 First Impression Review (SteamPunk SparkPlug)

This was patiently awaiting my arrival from 4 days away for work. I won ths for reviewing by making one of 5 winning banners for McDonaldWebb.com.

The SP2 Came in a nice priority box, several layers of quality foam to protect it.

The MW symbol sealed the box, so I knew exactly what was in the box.

Inside the box, I found the SP2 safe, along with a two pack of (unprotected) 16340s, a dual charger, copper BE112 atty (low bridge), pack of 5 tobacco filled carts, a 10ml bottle of matching liquid, a written warranty and instruction manual. To my surprise, there was also a hand signed letter, as well.

I quickly read over the simple color "how to" guide, put the SP2 togther, loaded on a cart and started vaping.

As you can see, vapor production is 10. Actually, the liquid is also quite tasty. Its a tobacco ive never had before, very analog-like, with no sweetness at all. VERY tasty!

The end caps are also pretty impressive. This unit is solderless and completely mechanical, so I trust there be no problems with it. Its very light compared to my other mods, small and compact, it actually cant really be seen in my hand. Im going to Las Vegas next month and I think this will be my PV of choicer to plane-travel with. Its classy, simple and doesnt look to strange and I expect people to not even realize its out of the ordinary. Id like to enjoy my vacation and not explain my PV the entire time. i ususally enjoy that tho

The button is solid. Easy. And, McDonald Webb put there logo on it, which is another reason I chose it to take a vac w me... This button is recessed, on the end, but bc of the way its recessed, I can stand it on end, put in my pocket, let it set on its side and have no worries. Although, time will tell, this is all first impression. The only thing I have to say thats odd about the button, is with it being on the end and recessed, it is going to take a lil getting used to. To press it, its at a slightly odd angle to get in there w my pinky. I have been using my ring finger but still some getting used to is in order. im sure it wont take long tho.

The atty end is different from ALL other mods I have seen. The threads are integrated, and the top is one piece of aluminum, not an aluminum top and a connector. Nice touch! Also, this atty is very well built and I now know why people rave so much abt the BE112! I would, however, like to see it w a 510 atty, as the atty/cart is longer than the unit itself. the color combo fits well with its SteamPunk theme too. I imagine this will be pretty tiny with the 510 on it.

The atty that comes standard is a special made. "ProAtomizer", made specially for McDonald Webb. Its made of copper, which to my knowledge is deemed the best conductive material of choice for optimal proformance to date. Im sure any style 801 atty will thread onto this connection and I have an 801 to 510 adapter on the way to see how it does with that...Ill post when I recieve it. I ordered it from Rob at AltSmoke, so Im sure Ill get it tomorrow so I can report back then. All threads glide smooth with exception to the atty threads, they are ok, just not super smooth like the rest. I imagine if I applied the Naolox there, it would be different but not sure if that would be suggested or not...

Overall, I think this unit will satisfy vapers looking for a mod thats compact, wont attract alot of attention (bc its easily hidden in even small hands) and works really well. Even tho the guide didnt tell me to, I DID add a little Naolox to the threads, just in case it decided to seize up. Its all aluminum on aluminum ans this babys new....cant have a seizure ruin my fun ! this unit will also satisy those smokers looking to quit and have has the pleasure of doing some research and know since they are going to eventually want a mod, better start w one.

I say this is a great starter mod bc of its size. Its not overly flashy, a brushed aluminum and copper atty. Its very pleasant on the eyes, lightweight and I put a protected 16340 in it and it fits great! Another thing I was impressed with was the flavor of the liquid. If any liquid mimicks an analog, its this. I mean, Im glad I started out trying all different flavors, but if I had had this first, after 6 months of vaping, Id prob just now be branching out to try other flavors. If you like a real tobacco taste, this is the liquid you have been longing for. Not sweet at all, and analog taste from inhale to exhale and the throat hit to kick it into gear.

Its very apparent McDonald and Webb thought long and hard about the SP2's design. I find itt to be virtually unbreakable, but like I said, this is only a first impression and time will tell. Ill be putting it thru the paces and will report back after i return from Vegas, giving the entire scoop from airport security to how it vaped in the casinos..If anything fails on this unit, I think it will bc the threads got crossed. Its very light, yet solid and I doubt their "Limited Lifetime Guarantee" will recieve much attention.

McDonaldWebb.com has answered many of my questions about the unit in record time, as fast as immediatly to just a few hours later. One email was even to make a slight correction on an answer, but really both answers meant the same but nonetheless, he took the time to let me know, anyway. So far, customer service, product, vapability- Gets MY Vote!

I will say that at first, i doubted its quality bc it wasnt heavy, then I realized I was being ignorant! You guys saw the pics, and many more reviews from myself, and more ECF members to come...At the end of the day, i was actually VERY IMPRESSED!!!!

BTW-whhoever it was that said they did "pen-spinning", this woud be great for that!

Yes, I have a Little Chuck, SB and SD.
This mod is different than all others. Its very small, lightweight and actually vapes completely different than my other mods.

    How you ask?
Well, like youtubecommercial tried to explained, its hard to nail that answer but I think I have finally figured it out. Its a very dry vape. It may be the liquid it came with, or maybe even the copper atty, not sure. But, its a dry, smoke-like vape. Still get all the flavor, but the actual vapor seems thick and dry.

To me, its most analog like for me and my other mods create a "creamier" vape, wetter if you will. Its hard to explain.....

    hope this helps

Yeah Crash, I took the battery out to charge it and went to put it back in to do some more vaping and damn there was a rattle I looked and the center from the top was inside the battery holder it had fallen .. I thought ohh noo I broke it ... but NOOOO I didn't the amazing thing I don't know if you have seen yet is that it comes apart .. try it take the top (adapter connector) off and look it all come apart ... SMART!! ... it is great for cleaning .. absolutely not like other mods are made .. I was shocked and amazed and excited .. there is NO way the steampunk is going out on me ... I keep finding simple amazing things about this Mod!!

yeah, i did see that, the lil manual thing said if you push it all the way up, then flip over and push it against a flat surface, it resets the part where the center atty connection meets...pretty cool, considering I got that adapter today from altsmoke and some attys have center pieces that are pushed in ore than others...this thing is great bc u can adjust that part and not have to mess w the atty!

Actually, the center post coming loose like that is not a good thing long run. It means it's not press fit in there tight enough and will effect electrical connection and will be more susceptible to juice leaking in there. It will also only get looser with time.

Actually, this is built like this just for youtubes reasons, as well as being able to adjust to those crazy attys that work on one device and not the other. Its actually quite the amazing touch. Its hard to explain w/out showing it to you and unfort, I dont have a video cam or Id show it. Its in the manual how to use thhis function and if it DOES comes loose, theres always the Lifetime warranty, but it seems the designers meant this to be the way it was, so the user can adjust it as needed and w/the batt pressed firmly against it, as its also the batt connection, I think if it were loose it wouldnt make a difference bc when its all out together it would have any room to wiggle.

The manual says to reset this "pin", press the bigger piece until it stops, then turn upside down on a flat surface and the pin sets in place at optimal seating. Its great bc I can re-seat it to make connection to "funny attys" instead of having to resort to the staple mod...
