Sorry, but that's just an e-cig company's press release. Dr. Nitzkin, however, is a valued supporter of the promise of electronic cigarettes.

Just don't think this is like the AMA coming out in favor of e-smoking. Far from it.

Don't be. It's good exposure. It's just that we all wish the AMA and other responsible health or medical groups would get behind the development of e-smoking as an alternative to cigarette smoking. Instead, they mostly come out in opposition.

It is an abomination that our medical community does not speak out on this issue. I have seen 3 doctors and not a single one of them has advised against the use of the PV. I have openly discussed the issue as much as they would let me and have shown my internist the liquid and requested he read the ingredients. He stated their was nothing in it that should be harmful and to make sure I stayed hydrated. He said he could not recommend them because they are not tested. After listening to the improvement in my lung function, he pointedly stated he was NOT opposed to the PV.

I think doctors are afraid to say what they think because if something goes wrong or if some idiot drinks the liquid and dies, the doctor would be sued! Freaking litigious society!

Last week my doctor asked for the web site where I got my e cig so that she could recommend it to another patient who had tried everything to quit smoking. I was impressed not just with the fact that she saw the value of vaping but that she also seemed to accept the difficulty of giving up smoking.

I really don't see what the problem is with e-cigarette companies putting out decent, newsworthy press releases. What do you think ASH is doing? What do you think the AMA, the FDA, and all these other organizations are doing? They're putting out what they think is going to help their cause and personally, I don't have any issue with e-cigarette companies putting out press releases. There's nothing that makes the press releases that e-cigarette companies put out any more or less credible than the press releases put out by the opposition. We should be grateful that they're actually taking the time and effort to find this information and expose it to the world and instead, you're busting chops. If every e-cigarette company would do some decent investigation into this industry's opposition and put out press releases about whatever they find, this fight would have been over long ago and we would have won already.

What I do have a problem with is e-cigarette companies bowing down to the FDA and other special interest groups instead of fighting them tooth and nail like they should be doing. This attitude of "shh, don't make a fuss, don't call any attention to us, bow down to the powers that be" is BS. Everyone on this forum has an e-cigarette story to tell and to make sure we continue to be able to get them, the public has to know we exist.

There's no such thing as bad publicity and you, for one, should know that.

A person will first read this press release and begin to think that all the bad press could be wrong, then will get to the end and find out it's an advertisement. All credibility that the article has will go out the window. Since there are many of these "press release ads" out there, pretty soon people will not bother to read any positive article about e-cigs, because "It's probably just another e-cig company trying to make a sale." Makes it more difficult for a non-ad article to be seen.
