The E-Cigarette in Public Have you used e-cigarettes in no-smoking areas? How did those around you react? Is it the perfect way around the smoking ban?

Default First time in public - very pleasant results...

Went to a restaurant, and for the first time I dared to take the e-cig out after the meal, puffing in public. After no more than 2 minutes, came the manager, and I was sure he's gonna tell me to put it out. Imagine my face when the guy pulled out a pen style e-cig, told the waitress to bring us all drinks, and he sat with us, puffing too. We drew the attention of the entire restaurant, many customers came to us, asking about it, and were very excited about it without any negative remark... I now feel like a missionary, that needs to spread out the word...

That would have been so awesome. I bet your face was "priceless" - LOL. Maybe you should make eating at that restaurant a weekly thing - that way you and the manager can convert several more people.

That is the coolest thing ever. I remember when I got stopped at the security check point at the airport (u.s.) and they all wiped down my e-cig and analyzed it for traces of bomb material. Then the lady asked, "so, what is that thing." I told here and she asked where she could get some. I said... damn Bia.. use the internet you lemming. Just kidding, I did tell her to use the internet though. I want my signature lines back... wahhh

I still didn't fly anywhere since I've started e-smoking, and don't know if I'll dare to carry it on me through security. Airline security here, although mostly discrete, is as strict as it gets for obvious reasons, and I'm pretty sure they'll confiscate it, if not hold me for investigation and make me miss my flight.

Good stuff! I wish the manager at the restaurant where I work was more open minded about my e-cig...I'm banned from using it anywhere in the restaurant

I tried it in a posh golf club house. Been there for a comp so me and my mate knew no one. The only person who said anything was my mate. He was convinced that we would get kicked out. And I tried to make a lot of vapour.
Not one single comment was made If I had walked in in trainers I would of been kicked out in 30 seconds flat. But puffing away no problem?????????

Hm, seems I can't start new threads, so here's my experience from Monday in London.

First off, I'm way too timid to puff away in front of bar staff, so it was a surprise to find one of the seminar attendants producing a super mini and suggested we take one of the front tables (LoL). In the end, three of us were puffing away: he with his very realistically-looking super mini, me with a DSE901 with blue LED and hubby with his monster Classic pen, and nobody at the bar batted an eyelid (apart from a few punters at the next table to whom I gave a card from e-cigs.co.uk).

Hubby's colleague said that this was the fifth pub he'd been in since getting the e-cig and he hasn't been challenged at all.

I found the same back in our regular. The landlord said that e-cigs are advertised and explained in the trade mags (whoever did that: good job! )

Our local landlord smokes roll-ups and regarded the e-cig as a bit of a joke, so I offered him a drag which sent him into a coughing fit

I didn't smoke inside because I didn't want to cause confusion among the punters, but I'm working on him and his missus to get the things accepted. Some pubs already sell starter kits behind the bar and make a fat bug out of it. It's a good thing seeing that the smoking ban has hit business hard!
