| The E-Cigarette in Public Have you used e-cigarettes in no-smoking areas? How did those around you react? Is it the perfect way around the smoking ban? |

I'm a photographer and last night I had to go to LA (1+ hour drive) and shoot a red carpet and the ensuing event in the club. As I drove down the freeway I started to get a little frustrated that my 510 wasn't performing to match my need to puff. I guess I kept over heating the atty so I would just get a weak vapor, which wasn't very satisfying. I fought the urge to find a gas station and kept pressing. So for white knuckle drives down the freeway my 510 is a little lacking for near constant use. I can probably solve that by switching between two units when one gets hot, lesson learned. When I got there my battery was expectedly dead and I switched to a fresh one out of my PCC, back to a nice strong vapor. Usually, I wait for a lull in the action and run around the corner for a quick smoke at least a couple times over the course of an hour or two. Not this time. I just puffed away when there was nobody coming through. This was pretty difficult for me because I was always a very conscientious smoker, trying to not be around non smokers when I smoked. I had a few people ask about it and they were intrigued, no one seemed to be bothered at all. Later on I went inside the club and vaped almost constantly with no issue for almost 2 hours until I was asked to 'kill it'. The security guard said he knew what it was but it was the motion of me smoking that could inspire others to light up, my 510 is black with a blue LED, btw. He said that just as someone tried to pass a blunt between us to someone else. I gave him a little stink eye and put my 510 away. tl;dr In a Hollywood night club, blunts are ok, e-cigs are not. Go figure. My 510 with two batts, 3 carts, and PCC was acceptable for 7 hours of fairly heavy vaping. I'm definitely getting a passthrough to use in the car though. |

[quote=dubnluvn;659427] He said that just as someone tried to pass a blunt between us to someone else. Tis d rives me crazy! First I am a second class citizen because I don't wrap weed inside my tobacco, and now I can't vape while everyone else is getting high!

I know...it was ridiculous. I had much better luck tonight, no problems at all. I think if I had some spares on me I could have made a few bucks.

good story, still haven't vaped in a no smoking zone yet. which is weird, cause i'm usually happy to ham it up. there is so much negative stigma towards smokers.

| You nailed it right there. Stories like dubnluvn's (and many others I've heard and experienced myself) make me believe that it's really a lot about the gesture, the 'visible part' of smoking. A lot of people just can't stand looking at someone puffing away, even from a safe distance.

It's Hollywood. Just tell 'em it's a crack pipe and they'll leave you alone. --Prof Daffy P.S. Someone really does need to develop a vaporless e-juice. |

Just an update, I've had much better experiences since. Every club I've been in after have been very cool about it and I've had no troubles. No one says anything to me in the no-smoking areas, but I do get a lot of questions when I'm with the smokers, all good responses so far. Oh and Daffy, I think it had more to do with the blue LED than it did the smoke...go figure...not red...blue. /me shrugs. |

Interesting. I have thought about getting a battery with no LED, or breaking the LED in a battery. I haven't order any white equipment or red / orange LEDs for this very reason. Since VA has a smoking ban starting up there is no reason I'd want it to look like a cigarette. -Gooney0 |
