| The E-Cigarette in Public Have you used e-cigarettes in no-smoking areas? How did those around you react? Is it the perfect way around the smoking ban? |

I have a 6 month old cat who, before I quit analogs 2 months ago, would get wide eyed, ears back and run away if I blew smoke her way. She is always on my lap or the arm of the chair/couch next to me and I blew vape at her. What did she do? Lifted her head, stuck her nose in the cloud, and sniffed away. Didn't bother her a bit and she seems to enjoy smelling it.

Some people aren't comfortable even vaping at all in the same room as/around their pets. My personal conclusion (after seeing another really good thread about this same topic) was that its okay for me to use my PV around my cat, but not to purposely blow vapor in his face (evidently cats can possibly have a bad reaction to PG that might be specific to cats) |

I'm going to agree with Whistler. There was a drawn out thread that revealed that PG is pretty toxic to cats. And the nicotine isn't good for them either. I'm taking a few extra precautions as far as storage and handling goes, and making sure to blow upwards and away from mine. If you're using VG, that's actually an ingredient in cat treats, so less danger.

well oreo has been around me smoking and vaping, this little cat knows the difference, and since may has become more "i sitz here with you now" than when i analoged. yes, there is a problem with PG and cats, so i am more careful than i would be with a mere kid(hate em) (kids that is) so when i drip, i shoo her away, she seems to know to wait till i wipe up the little space and my hands up, comes right back. if i vape while watching tv in bed, (yes, i`ve become one of those 70% of people that have pets, their pet sleeps in the bed) she stare at the clould, but has not even try to sniff it.

| Super Member | This brings up another oft overlooked benefit to 'vaping' over smoking.. we can safely vape in bed! The other I don't see talked about all that much is the whole general lack of burn holes in clothing, carpets etc, no more fire hazard with PVs -- and that's a really important one I never was silly enough to try smoking analogs while laying down (I was already plenty enough of a menace with analogs while sitting upright and alert) but I have on occasion laid on my couch and vaped, have been known to carry a PV with me to bed (but to take one inhale then mostly to just hold onto it in one hand under my pillow while I lay on my side to go off to sleep, not really sure what's up with that lol) sorry for the derail just had to throw that in... back to cats: Now that I am a non smoker and a PV/snus/nasal snuff etc etc person instead, mine is more clingy/ my relationship with my massive fat furball (all 16 lbs of him!)l has improved greatly (well, certainly from his perspective perhaps a bit more than mine -- he's tubby enough that he still can put my legs to sleep pretty quickly and the tail.. oh that tail... whips me with it constantly and I swear its his personal goal to see just how many times and ways he can dance around try to snake and slap my face with it and this guy's got a seriously big tail, he can on occasion actually hurt you with those face slaps with it), but for the most part its all good, he gets more oppurtunity to be his annoying self far more up close and personal (I really do love him and I know he loves me, but its like an Odd Couple sort of prickly relationship with a lot of his determining and finding creative ways how much he can just annoy me mixed in. That's Barney for ya.) |

Oh, I didn't know that about PG and cats! I'm glad I read this. My kitties have been very intrigued about my e-cig, but I've never blown the vapor at them. Now I know I should actually be making it a point to blow it away from them. My biggest concern until now has been keeping my e-cig and supplies away from them. One of my cats will eat *anything* (including rubber and plastic!), so I've had this fear that if he got ahold of any of it, he might chew through the cart or chew into a bottle and die from the nicotine. He's really not a very smart cat.

my minature black panther uno has been vaping with me for about 2 weeks - he loves it, runs up to it to get some if he can... but he used to smoke weed with me too in my younger days... odd that he hated cigs aswell but i didnt know that pg was toxic to the felines, i use about 70%vg vapor - but i'm afraid my partner in crime will be indulging in our habit a bit less from now on... he's gonna hate you guys he really liked the butterscotch vape |
