Ugh.... my wife has had a hard time getting into vaping, she keeps getting headaches & heartburn... I think we got the heartburn under control, but the headaches are still a problem.

Anyhow - point is she came home from work and told me she bought a pack of analogs today. I'm not about to begrudge her that... just makes it harder on me because now I have a pack of cigarettes sitting in the house.

I told her next time don't tell me.

    EDITED TO ADD:
Just to be clear - I have not smoked one.
I have however been vaping like a fiend.

Has she upped her water intake? How are the nicotine levels? Try going up one level and down one level...

Picked up a carton of analogs for Mom, since I've been "bumming" one an evening. Swiped a pack for me... they are gonna be soooooo stale if/when I get to the end of the pack which is a good thing, right?

I've been hammering her on the water intake - she claims she's can't possibly drink anymore water or she'll spend all day on the toilet.

As far as nic level - she started at 16mg (bc it was the only juice we had).
From there she went to 12..then eventually 6-8mg. Once she went to that lower level the heartburn subsided.

As far as the headaches go - it's weird...seems to come on very quickly after vaping. When I say quickly, I mean within 1-2 minutes of taking a drag. I just today got the rest of the supplies I needed to run some tests with her... so I'm going to try pure VG, pure PG, no nic, no flavor, etc etc...until we can figure it out.

And in the meantime I'm going to try my best not to have one of those analogs. I know full well that if I do I'm going to hate the taste, the feeling, and then feel guilty for having smoked it..... but you know what it's like.

    WOO HOO!!!

So I just did the math.... and even though my banner says differently... TODAY is the day that I've actually broken even since quitting.

I actually started vaping on 2/15/10 (but was still smoking one or two a day for a bit). The date on my banner is the date I last had an analog. My banner also doesn't take into account how much money we were spending on my wife's habit...

SO... with all that added in, today is the day I broke even.
From here on out vaping is only saving us money (on top of having helped me avoid over 1300 cigarettes to date - 501 being since the last time I had one).

I can't possibly tell you all how happy I am right now.
This is the best thing that has happened to us in years.

Thanks to everyone here who has helped us make the transition.
I'm doing what I can to pass that along by helping a few other smoking friends make the transition right now... so far I've introduced 5 friends to vaping, and 4 of those are making the switch.

Oh - on another note - I got to the bottom of the headache issue with my wife.
Believe it or not it seems like it was a reaction to VG.

I doubted it until I ran a blind study on her myself - I gave her nothing but PG to vape and she had no problems. Next I gave her nothing but VG to vape, and she got a headache within 5 minutes.

I tried that a few times, and it happened every time.
Without flavoring, with 0 nic, VG gave her a headache every time within a few minutes.

So, at least we got to the bottom of that.
She's now happily vaping PG based liquid and has had no problems since.

woot! woot! hooray! I know that's the day I'm going to look forward to the most. The day I break even is going to be the day I make my "success stories" post. Congratulations!

You don't have to wait until you break even. Think about all the money in medical bills you're saving. And even if that wasn't the case, even if vaping cost more, just think about how much that healthier life is worth. Think about how much longer the people that love you will have you around. That really is priceless.

Just another post to say that we've broken even on all our ecig expenditures now (after getting us both eGos, some DIY juice supplies, etc etc etc). Even though my banner says I need 16 more days to break even, it's not taking into account what we used to spend for my wife's cigarettes...

So, in honor of breaking even, being off cigarettes completely for the first time in 17 years, and to thank this fantastic site, I just became a supporting member of the site for the next year, and I would urge anyone that hasn't done so yet and was able to quit with the help of the information here to do the same. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, ECF may have very well saved my life.

So thanks to all of you here - and thanks to the mods and admins that keep this place running. You guys all rock.

I had one of the best moments last night ....
I went into the convenience store to pick up some stuff - I hadn't gone into this place in over a month or so (you can only imagine that I used to go in there daily).

The guy behind the counter recognized me, and instinctively turned around and grabbed two packs of Camel Lights off the shelf... I laughed, realizing he hadn't seen me in a long time, and told I didn't need them. He looked confused for a second, then asked "Really? Did you quit?"

Wow - it felt so good to tell him to put those cigarettes back on the shelf.
And it wasn't tempting in the least.

I've never felt better in my entire life than I did in that moment.
