Default 3 months smoke free today!

    Hooray!

My story isn't that different (but it is wordy), so feel free to skip the details and go right to the "THANKS ECF!" at the end.....

I'm not one of those people who picked up my e-cig/PV and never looked back. It took about 6 weeks to switch over- but who cares, since i wasn't going to quit smoking anyway. I figured it was fine if it worked and I reduced the number of cigs I smoked. I told myself i could have a real cig any time i wanted to, and did. But my smoking went to half a pack a day (from a pack and a half or more), then to 5 cigs, the to 1 or 2. One of the turning points was one night in a bar. I had a cig lit, and found myself craving vapor, instead of the other way around. WTF? I calmly finished my smoke, and gratefully took a drag off my PV.

Another turning point was the day before my 47th birthday (argh) i realized I hadn't smoked all day, and said, what the heck, I'll go all day without a cig. First time in many, many years. You might think that this was it. But it wasn't. Instead of trying to string two smoke-free days together, I deliberately smoked on my birthday. I didn't want to set the bar too high.

During the next week, i had a couple of smoke-free days, couple cigs. yada yada. Went out one night, very late night, burned through three batteries, cartos didn't seem to work, and i only had two cigs left. I rationed them out, and was sucking on my PV like....i dunno like something. I'm pretty sure i looked rather neurotic and scary.

Not surprisingly, i didn't feel like doing much the next day. so I didn't go to the store to get more cigs. I waited till Monday to buy what i thought of as my emergency pack. haven't opened it yet. My last cig was one I bummed from someone else. Figures.

I'm feeling better, I guess. My measurable health parameters are certainly better. I'm finally getting through the lack of motivation that I've had for the past few months. The closest i come to craving is this vague feeling of "I want something, but it's not a cig". I don't want to smoke. I never thought that would happen, especially without massive amounts of pain, whining and crankiness. I can see ahead to a future without a oxygen cylinder on a cart, and making sure that the flow is turned off before i light up....

The information and people on this forum made my transition much much easier- I was able to get the right PV for me the first try (manual V4L VK/KR8) and not have to buy 2, 3 or 4 different ones to get a good fit. And even more importantly almost all of my questions were answered before i even thought to ask them.

Ok, almost done. Here's the important part:

    THANKS ECF and V4L!!!!
