I take it you like the whistle tip, or have you drilled another DT for use with the VVPV? So far the ONLY thing that sounds like a drawback to me is the whistle tip. I know I could drill a different tip, but I'm lazy and that sounds like I could scew it up.

If you use a delrin tip they drill VERY easy. I agree that the only major drawback is the whistle tip. Not a fan of whistle tips myself. BUT if thats the only drawback.... Its a pretty easy one to overcome
